Lyra ducked her head when she saw Aaron walk in. maybe he wouldn't see her. She closed her eyes like her did all the time thinking it made him invisible...Course it never really works.
Aaron smile. "where could Miss Lyra be?" he asked, pretending to not see her. "maybe over here by the flowers" he said, looking at her with a charming smile.
he laughed. "well okay, but how about you join me for a walk first" he said.
Willa wandered back to the hotel, exhausted from her jog. She wiped the sweat off her forehead, and noticed some Gazebos next to the hotel. She walked over and flopped onto one of the seats, closing her eyes and sighing. A few moments passed, and she opened her eyes, noticing she wasn't alone.
Instead of panicking or being embarrassed, Willa just began to laugh hysterically.
"Oh God, I must look so...un-ladylike!" she managed between her giggles, "Don't mind me, you two! Your Highness." she gave a curtsey, then walked back to the hotel.
Lyra giggled, putting her hand up to her mouth, "Well, that was different. I thought I was the only one who got nervous around you." She looked at him shyly, "A walk sounds nice. Where do you have in mind?”
Aaron laughed when Willa did. She seemed one to be fun to be around. he looked back at Lyra "how about the park?" he asked. "it's just a 10 minute walk from here" he said, with that charming smile.
"A park? I've never been to one before... That's a good idea, I like exploring new places." She got up from the bench and stood next to him, stretching her hand out to gesture lead the way.
He offered her his arm. "shall we?" he asked.
She slid her arm through his and blushed again when she realized how strong his muscles were. Did he have to fight anyone? She let him lead her to the park.
The gazebo was the perfect place to hide. With crawling vines and flowers, it was like a separate world. Marigold could tell from the sky it was going to rain, but the gazebo would give her shelter when it started. Right now, all she wanted was to be alone. She could no longer push the creeping memory out of her mind.It was spring when it happened; a time of rebirth. Or at least that’s what Mari had thought. She was 13 then, and had just begun working in her family’s shop. Their house was connected to the store, and they had just sat down for dinner when they heard the frantic rapping on the door. She remembered her parents being confused that someone was knocking at such a late hour, while she herself had felt mildly curious. Her parents went downstairs to answer the door while she watched from the second floor balcony. They lived in a townhouse in the city, so every floor except the ground floor had a balcony.
She couldn’t see who it was, but she could hear them pleading. It sounded like a boy, probably younger than her since his voice hadn’t dropped yet. He was begging her father for medicine to help his mother. Apparently, she had gotten injured and he was worried her wounds would get infected. Mari sighed in relief knowing they had plenty of medication in stock that could fight infection. But then something strange happened. Instead of hearing her father say, “I’ll be right back,” he asked how the boy was going to pay for their services. That’s how Mari knew the boy must be at least a seven. She had never seen one before, but her father had so he could probably recognize them.
The boy continued to plead, “I’ll do anything! Anything at all! I can work, I can clean. I can get a job in a factory and spend the rest of my life paying you back, just please help my mother!”
“Anything you say? Would you kiss my feet?” Mari felt her face twist in confusion. Why was her father being so cruel? The medicine wasn’t that expensive, the boy could easily work it off. She leaned over the rail in time to see the boy drop to his knees and move his head to kiss her father’s feet. A gasp escaped Mari’s lips when her father swung his leg back and kicked the boy in the face. He yelled, “Filthy trash! Smog-scums aren’t welcomed here!” Then he slammed the door in his face.
Mari could see the boy; her father had kicked him into the street. His nose was bleeding as he lay in the road helplessly. The blood was dripping down his chin in a gruesome beard, when he lifted his head to stop the blood. Mari felt the urge to yell don’t do that, but she was stopped when he made eye contact with her. He propped himself up with stick arms and just stared at her, sitting in the street. While he didn’t speak any words, Mari knew what he was asking for. He didn’t care about the embarrassment her father had caused him, he just wanted help for his mother. Mari felt her heart tighten and wondered idly why it wasn’t raining. It should be raining. In the movies it always rains during depressing moments. But no rain came, so there was nothing obstructing her view of his tangled curly hair and orb like eyes.
She could easily grab the medicine. All Mari had to do was tell her parents she forgot something in the shop, and gesture for the boy to wait for her. But, she remained frozen on the balcony, hands clutching the railing. After a while the boy got up, and brushed dirt off his clothing. His nose was still bleeding, and some of it had dripped onto his clothing. But, he made no move to cover it, all he did was continue staring at her; eyes beseeching for help. Mari had to break the trance, so she closed her eyes tight and went back into her house. She never got the medication, and she pretended to believe her mother when she said the person had the wrong address. To this day, she still didn’t know how long the boy waited outside before going home. Until she had seen him in the dining room, she had never run into him again. The only sign that he had ever come to their house was that the street was still stained with his blood in the morning.
((gosh, poor Hayden, and Mari))
((I'd say more poor Hayden...I have a really big story line for him, that I'll slowly be spreading. I actually have had a whole thing planned since I made him.))
((wow, you are really organised))
(Lol just for him. The other characters i'm winging it. And i'm terribly impatient, so it's driving me nuts not to spill. But I already decided i'm going to wait till they get back for the big reveal.)
Adrianna walked out confidently into a gazebo. She sat down and decided she would just think for a few minutes. She hadn't really let her whole situation sink in yet. It was still hard to believe that she was in the Selection.
Standing up, Adrianna remembered hearing somewhere that there was a mall around here. She walked out of the gazebo and went to go find it.
Adrianna dragged Kellan into a gazebo and stared at him, not knowing what to say. She lifted her hand and slapped him across the face with all the strength she had. Kellan clutched his cheek, "You're crazy, Adrianna! I didn't deserve that!" He yelled at her, not even ashamed of himself for yelling at a lady.
"Don't you dare. Don't you dare say that to me! I remember that day as though it just happened. You damn well deserved that!"
"I saw my girlfriend eating out of the trash! What was I supposed to do?!"
"Don't you dare try to justify what you did to me. I loved you Kellan. I was starving and desperate and all you did to help was tear my heart into pieces." She shoved him.
"Is that the reason you dress like a freak these days, Adrianna?" He said, gesturing towards her clothes and face.
"Kellan, I didn't bring you out here so you could insult me. I brought you out here to say that I hate you. I hate you with all my heart and soul and I will never forgive you for what you did to me. I hate you." She said, then stormed back into the hotel. Kellan soon followed, shocked by their brief encounter.
