Aan lead Lyra to the park. "quite a sight, don't you think?" he asked, looking around.

"Woah. It's amazing. Do you come here a lot?"

"sometimes" he said. "whenever i can that is" he added.

Lyra motioned to sit down by the river. "Could I ask you a question? Actually, could I ask you several questions? I'll answer yours if you answer mine. If you have any that is."

"okay, sure" he said. "and whats your first question?" he asked

She decided to go for any easy one first. Or at least, she thought it was easy, "Of all the people in the world to let run an event, why you would you let Elliot Ryker to do it? I mean Eli's nice for the most part...he teases me all the time. But, he lacks, um let's call it organizational skills."

"it wasn't my choice" he said. "my mother gave him the job" he added.

Lyra laughed at the look on his face. "You seem thrilled by her decision." It hadn't been bothering her or anything that Eli was in charge, she just thought it was funny.

he laughed. "oh yeah, i was jumping for joy when i found out" he said sacastically.

"You know Eli...he's..." Lyra bit her lip wondering if she should continue, if it was her place. "Well, he's had some stuff happen to him. And I know he sort of blames the royal family for it, but that's just because he feels so powerless. Try not to take him too seriously if he tries to upset you. He's a little too good at reading people, and he knows just what to say to get you riled up."

he nodded. "i kinda noticed" he said. "anyway, next question" he said, trying to avoid this topic.

"What's your favorite color?"

"blue" he said straight away. "been that way for years" he added.

"Blue would suit you, it'd bring out your eyes. My favorite changes on the season. I like red and orange in fall, green in spring, purple in summer, and blue in winter...are you a cat person or a dog person?"

"none acyually. I prefer birds" he said

"Hmm. I guess we're doomed then. Consider us star-crossed lovers offically. I have a cat named Tango, and his favorite animal is birds too." She was joking, Tango only went after yarn or sticks, he never went after anything alive." I do love to sing to birds."

He smiled. "do you sing to people?" he asked.

"Sometimes. If a patron really wants me to. I usually just sing to my family, or by myself. Or birds like I said."

he smiled charmingly. "any other questions?" he asked

"Well there's one I'm saving till you answer a couple more. What's your favorite food?"

"pasta" he said

"What's your favorite time of day?"

"11.59 pm" he said "i know that a new day is coming, and that if i made any mistakes the previous day, i can fix them the next" he said

"That's good way to think of things. Do you have any questions for me?"

"if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?" he asked

She had to think about that for a minute. "I'm not sure if I could choose. There's so many things I haven't done, all I want to do it explore them all. Maybe Australia, can I list a country? I'd like to see kangaroos and tropical fish. I read in a book they have caves that glow."

"my father once went" he said. "i was too young to go with him, so i also really want to go" he said

"Maybe we could go together one day." That made her think of the question she really wanted to ask, "Aaron, what do you think of the selection? How do you feel about it?"

"i honestly dont know" he said. "i kind of feel like my parents just forced it up on me" he said

"Are you nervous about it? Do you like going out with so many girls? Have you...sorry, I'm probably not supposed to ask these kinds of questions. It's why I was leading up to it. I just feel so conflicted."

"you can ask questions. it's not against the law" he said. "and don't feel so conflicted." he said.

"How can I not? You're going out with my new friends, and I want to feel happy for them, but I never completely do." She looked up at the sky feeling frustrated from the conversation that would never have a solution. "...When you see a star, what do you wish for Aaron?"

"freedom" he said flatly.

Lyra looked him in the eyes. They were sitting pretty close together. Her voice was tender when she asked, "Don't you already have it? You're the prince."

"no" he said. "i can't go anywhere without being followed by an army of guards" he said. "they have surrounded us right now" he said pinting to several places.

She looked at where he was pointing and felt violated. How could he put up with that? Lyra leaned in so only he could hear her. "Let's just ditch them." If there was one thing Lyra wasparticularly skilled at, it was getting away from people she didn't want watching her.

"i wish" he said. "it's like i have some sort of tracking device on me." he said. "After what happened to Princess Meliline of Englad, they watch me like hawlks" he said.

"You'd be surprised what I could pull off...but what happened to her?"

"Her mother, the queen died when she was 8. Her older brother Tylor was suposed to take over the kingdom, but there was a horbile war. Tylor was killed. Mediline was then to take his place. Her father put so much pressure on her. eventually he called her worthless and pathetic. she was torn apart. she ran away from home, and was never seen again." he said. Well, he knew Mediline personally, so the 'never seen again' part was not fully true. Only Aaron knew who she really was. "right now, her younger brother Jacob is being prepped from king" he added.

"Wow...I can't really blame her I guess. Did you know her personally?"

"i did" he said

(lol it's okay. I keep messing up on names too, have to go back and retype them.)

"Have you ever thought about doing the same? Did you wish she had asked you to come with her?"

"she did" he said. "she came to me when she ran." he added. "she ran when she was 11, so she knew her way around really well." he said. "i said that i could not leave my home. she left a little later that day" he said. "there are times when i regret my decision, but most of the time, i am greatful i did not go with her" he said.

"Why? Don't you feel trapped?"

"i do, but im not going to leave my county" he sid. he meant it.

She smiled at him," That's very noble of you...I wouldn't leave my country either."

he smiled. "it's not up to being noble. it is all a mater of responsiblitly." he said

"We all have responsiblities, but only the noble care about them. You're loyal to your family, I admire that."

"thank you" he said with a charming smile.
