What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Set very far back the girl lives in a camp like village I think. She is a witch and there are three other girls who are evil/spiteful. There's also a boy, lives in the forest and is friends with the animals, a bird. He and the girl become friends, maybe romance cant remember.

Not much but it was lent to me by my English teacher 3/4 years ago. I think the author has written a lot of other books but I'm not sure so don't discount any other suggestions because they're not by an author with a lot of books.

Could it possibly by The Third Witch by Rebecca Reisert? The book is based on the play MacBeth, so it is conceivable that an English teacher might have it handy (as I have several copies in my room, and I am an English teacher.
