What book are you currently reading?
Right now I'm reading Satellite Night Special, which is pretty good, and then I'll probably finish reading Wizard or The Rakehells of Heaven. :O when I don't want to finish reading a book I like too fast, I read some other books at the same time.
I'm reading The guernsey literary and potato peel pie society and after that I plan on reading The time traveler's wife.
I'm reading lots of stuff right now. I have 5 ARCs that I need to post reviews on, and a couple just for fun books. So far I'm not liking GateKEEPERS by Robert Stone and Rudolf Schmerl.
I am however liking The Physick book of Deliverance Dane, Duma Key, Something Borrowed, and I'm Perfect, You're Doomed.
Plus I am taking a World Literature class right now so I'm reading 10-15 stories, poems, or excerpts a week. Good thing I love to read huh?
I'm reading The Lieutenants by W.E.B. Griffin. Next I'm going to read Memorial Day by Vince Flynn.
Right now I'm reading Murder is Binding by Lorna Barrett and waiting is The Spy Game by Georgina Harding which I won in a draw, and The Strain by Giullermo del Toro & Chuck Hogan which I will probably finally start in the next couple of days.
I'm currently reading Skeleton Man by Tony Hillerman.
I was born and raised in Albuquerque, and I was saddened to learn that Hillerman, who wrote extensively about New Mexico, had passed away in late 2008.

My love for Hillerman's books and descriptions of the Southwest prompted me to take a car trip (from New Westminster BC) to the locations he talked about, so back in about 1992 my husband, my daughter and I took a trip of a lifetime spending almost 3 weeks in the area. Prominent in the stores in Farmington and Shiprock were all Tony Hillerman's books! Some places we missed, but we did get into Chaco Canyon, saw a parade in Shiprock, saw the clay outdoor ovens in the Hopi community, the Navajo people were very friendly. I'm going to really miss his books.
Just started a new review copy of "Running from the Devil" by Jamie Freveletti. Sounds like it will be fast-paced and a thriller.

I'll miss Hillerman's style of writing as well... I enjoyed reading about all the Southwestern sites I used to see as a kid.
I finished Skeleton Man and I'm now on to rereading the Iliad.

I'm reading I'm Perfect, You're Doomed Tales From A Jehovah's Witness UpbringingThen next on my list is The Gnostic Mystery
I'm on sort of a religious kick for some reason.
I just finished S. King's The Gunslinger (six more Dark Tower books to go!).
I'm about halfway through the Iliad.
I'm about halfway through the Iliad.
I am reading Pullman's The Subtle Knife (loved the Golden Compass) and am really enjoying it. Also reading Twilight at my Granddaughter's request (can't say no to those Grandkids!) It was boring me to death until I got to chapter 18 where the bad guys show up. It is better now - only about 40 pages to go. I'm hoping the rest of the series is better. I recently finished Kite Runner and really liked that one.
I will start reading "Fool" by Christopher Moore tonight...love the guy! I've always thought Christopher Moore clever, amusing and fun to read! I need to get busy reading ARC books: "The Household Guide To Dying" by Debra Adelaide & "Hella Nation: Looking for Happy Meals in Kandahar, Rocking the Side Pipe, Wingnut's WarAgainst the GAP, and Other Adventures with the Totally Lost Tribes of America" by Evan Wright.
I've been chipping away (slowly) at "The Duchess" by Amanda Foreman. It's an awesome read but it's really detail saturated. I also just finished the "Fablehaven" series by Brandon Mull. It is so fun! With summer coming up I highly recommend it as a lighter read. Shirley - I want to give you a head's up about Twilight. While I love the story itself, the pacing problems persist through all four books. The 4th book was the hardest for me to get through. I was bored very nearly to tears. :)
Thanks, Angie. I was beginning to think there was something I was missing. New Moon was much easier and faster to read than Twilight - more action - but now I'm finding that Eclipse is dragging. It' good to know someone else is having the same issue.
Betty wrote: "My love for Hillerman's books and descriptions of the Southwest prompted me to take a car trip (from New Westminster BC) to the locations he talked about, so back in about 1992 my husband, my daugh..."I must admit that I have 3 of Hillermans books in my Libary and have not yet read. I did not realize that he wrote of New Mexico. The history and Culture is untouchable, The flavor of New Mexico can not be duplicated anywhere !!!! I shall grab Hillermans book of the shelf and make it my next read.
Brain Surgeon by Keith Black, MD (non-fiction) p.131Death of a Rug Lord by Tamar Myers p.116
Next up: Under the Fifth Sun by Jeffrey Osburn
Waiting in the wings: The Physik Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe
I'm reading 'The Suspicions of Mr Whicher' but have to admit that I am finding it a bit tedious at the moment ( I am half way through). Started reading 'Interview with the Vampire' again for some light relief!!The next book that I am going to read is 'The Shack'
I've picked up two more books to read while I'm finishing the Iliad: Candide and 2001 Space Odyssey. I've got my plate full!
I am reading Eclipse now, 3rd book of the Twilight Saga - Angie you are sooooo right about the pacing. New Moon was much better than Twilight and I raced through that one, but I'm finding that Eclipse is dragging (but not quite as bad as Twilight). I'm almost half way through and still hopeful that it will get better. After your comment about book 4, I'm reallllly looking forward to it !! (lol)
Shirley wrote: "I am reading Eclipse now, 3rd book of the Twilight Saga - Angie you are sooooo right about the pacing. Just finished "Fool" by Christopher Moore & loved it. This was his take on King Lear. While reading it I laughed and thought this would be a good one for Monty Python to do if they were all still around and together. Fun book to read!
Angie wrote: "Shirley wrote: "I am reading Eclipse now, 3rd book of the Twilight Saga - Angie you are sooooo right about the pacing. I'm just finishing Death of a Rug Lord by Tamar Myers, and into Under the Fifth Sun by Jeffrey Osburn.
I just finished Dinotopia by James Gurney yesterday! It's great! I read it in one sitting practically.
Completing the Iliad is no small feat. Will you tackle the Odyssey next?I'm currently reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, then I'm going to start Wicked. The play was awesome, so I hope the book's good too!
Meredith wrote: "I'm going to be reading Wicked, I live the song Defying Gravity from the musical."I love that song! I constantly sing it during my commute!
I could spend the whole day listening to that song! I'm not that fond of the rest of the music from the musical. I do like the idea of getting to know the back story of The Wicked Witch of the West.
jenn wrote: "Completing the Iliad is no small feat. Will you tackle the Odyssey next?"Oh my, the Iliad and the Odyssey were both... interesting books. The first few times I attempted to read it, I hated it. Possibly because they were mandatory reads in school. I only learned to 'love' them after I got out. :D
Currently reading Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I have a ton of books on my TBR pile. It's the fact that I can't choose which one to read which leads me to reread the books I've read countless amount of times already. Anywaone with the same problem?
Just finished Under the Fifth Sun by Jeffrey Osburn and about to begin The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe.
Oh Betty you will absolutely love The Physick book -- I am thrilled to have found a new favorite author and can't wait to meet her locally in June. The book was fabulous!!
Read "Terminal Freeze" by Brad Meltzer. It was an okay book about global warming in the Arctic...and awakening a creepy beastie! Started "Beat the Reaper" by Josh Bazell, a new author. "Beat the Reaper" so far is a hoot about a doctor/former hitman. If you like dark humor...try this one.
Finished reading Eclipse and have moved on to Breaking Dawn - so far it's OK, definately getting more involved, so maybe that will keep me interested. Angie, you couldn't have been more right about the pacing problems with this series! I am in the "Jacob" chapters now and I had alot of problems switching perspectives from Bella to Jacob. Did you find that disconcerting?
Sue wrote: "Oh Betty you will absolutely love The Physick book -- I am thrilled to have found a new favorite author and can't wait to meet her locally in June. The book was fabulous!!"Sue, just finished it. You are absolutely right, it was wonderful!
Angie wrote: "Shirley wrote: "I am reading Eclipse now, 3rd book of the Twilight Saga - Angie you are sooooo right about the pacing. New Moon was much better than Twilight and I raced through that one, but I'm ..."Angie, I finished Breaking Dawn this week and I must say I am sad that the series is done. It left me wanting to know more and what's next - what happens with Renesme and Jacob etc, etc, etc. So, I guess you'd say I have become a fan. I just read the on-line transcript of chapter one of Edward's story - so, that's something to look forward to.
Now I am going back to Pullen's The Subtle Knife which I totally neglected while reading The Twilight Series.
Finished "Pygmy" by Chuck Palahniuk and am starting "One Second After" by William Forstchen....that one sounds like a plausible account of the U.S. being attacked by an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) weapon that will send America back to the Dark Ages. Creepy because it could happen!
Hi Cecilia, just wondering what your thoughts were on Pygmy? or do you have a review up? I've got it on my want list at the moment.
I am reading a book won called something borrowed by emily giffin. This is my first time reading emily giffin and I must say that thus far I am not impressed. I am on page 107. All I can think of is SLUT!!!! It reads high schoolish, boy girl drama, when Darcy and Rachel are 30. The cover suggust a surprise ending, so I am holding out for that. Dottie

I'll let you know how I find it and please let me know your opinion once you have finished it.
