Winter Dash Contest is open to all ages and nationalities, although entries must be written in English.
The winner will receive L$5,000 (Second Life® currency) or a $20 Amazon gift voucher and publication on the website. There will also be the opportunity for the winner and two runners up to perform their pieces at a special online recital at 10 am PST on 31st December, 2012.
Deadline for submissions is midnight (PST) on the 30th December, 2012. We accept only 4 entries per person. Writer retains copyright, however, we reserve the right to republish winning work, whole or in part, in future electronic and/or print editions or anthologies.
We welcome submissions in the following areas: poetry, flash fiction, fiction and non-fiction.
General Guidelines
Poetry
Maximum of 6 entries. 100 line limit per entry.
Flash Fiction
Maximum of 6 100-word stories/flash fiction entries. 100 word limit.
General Fiction
Maximum of 2 entries. 2500 word limit
Non-fiction
Maximum of 2 entries. 2500 word limit.
Submit only unpublished work. We do not accept simultaneous submissions. Work that has been previously published or is being offered for publication at a journal elsewhere is not eligible for publication at Virtual Writers’ World.
Send your submissions in.doc or .rtf format, as an email attachment to andrea @ virtualwritersinc . com (remove spaces first before sending) with the following information in the subject area of the email: (Type of work, for example “Winter Dash Contest”) Submission: (Your Name). Please also include a 100-word bio written in third person in the body of the email.
Virtual Writers’ World acquires first-time electronic rights with exclusive rights for 30 days from publication. Rights will revert to the author after publication. Authors are free to republish their work in either electronic or print as long as Virtual Writers’ World is recognized as the original publisher and you provide a link to us. We also reserve the right to republish your work, whole or in part, in future electronic and/or print editions or anthologies.
Virtual Writers’ World will also publish the winning writer’s bio and provide links to their personal site.
