Starting from Finland, where I live.1. Finland: Onnen tunti by Anna-Leena Härkönen
It's written in Finnish, but it's a story about foster parents who gets 2 new kids, and it's story of their life together in one summer.
Annina wrote: "This journey is mainly about books that won't be on the 1001-list."Hello Would you mind to say the tittle of the book, please?
thanks a lot
It's Happy Hour.. sounds funny, but onni is happy in English and tunti is hour in English.. but it seems that this book haven't translated in English, some of her books has translated into English as well.
2. Sweden: Pekka Töpöhäntä by Gösta KnutssonIt's a children's book about a cat, who doesn't have a tail. And his adventures around the world. He travels in Sweden, USA and Denmark. I choose Sweden, 'cause his hometown is in Sweden and that's where main things happens.
Don't know if this is translated into English.
3. France: Kuplissa : novelleja by Claire CastillonOriginal title in french: Les bulles
This is a book which has many short stories about relationships. Every story has a different narrator and those stories are quite short ones. Very quick book to read.
4. Israel: Appointment with Death by Agatha ChristieThis was mainly about murder, not really about Israel or Petra. They also visit Jerusalem, but the murder happens in Petra.
Annina wrote: "5. UK: The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling"What did you think of the book? I had a really hard time getting into it. I read about a third of it and abandoned it for a coupe of months. I started it again on audio and got through it, but was disappointed overall. It wasn't bad, but I didn't think it to be very good either.

I didn't think that it was the best book ever, but it wasn't that bad either. Some of the characters were interesting, but then there were "boring" ones as well. I read it weeks, so it was quite a slow read and I did struggle a little bit. But I'm not sure if it was the book, or my mood 'cause it seems that I'm to struggleing with every book right now.
6. Finland: Tummien perhosten koti by Leena LanderThe story is about orphanage, where happens a murder and then there's a story before the murder and after the murder.
7. Finland: Pussikaljaromaani by Mikko Rimminen
It's a story about 3 dudes, who doesn't do anything in a one day, but has still all kinds of adventures. They stay in one street and park the whole story. There's side stories, but really nothing happens to these 3 dudes.
10. Afghanistan: And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled HosseiniI decided to put this under Afghanistan cause I don't think that I will be reading another book very soon, where things happens in Afghanistan.
There's also parts that happens in France and California.
12. Poland: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne13. Finland: Ilonen talo by Kreetta Onkeli
Finnish book about single mum, who starts to drink little bit too much and the story about her 2 daughters.
14. Ireland: This Is How It Ends: A Novel by Kathleen MacMahonIt seems that I'm stuck in the same countries all the time. Maybe next book will be "new" country.
16. Estonia: Kun kyyhkyset katosivat by Sofi OksanenStory about 3 people who lives in Estonia and how they manage to stay alive middle of the war.
18. UK: Mad About the Boy by Helen FieldingLet's hope that this year I'll read books other countries as well..
I'm finally making some progress but, again.. I read a book from UK.21. UK: Incendiary by Chris Cleave
This time it's London.
22. Italy: Nocturnes: Five Stories of Music and Nightfall by Kazuo IshiguroThere's 5 stories and everyone of those stories happens in different places. The first story happens in Italy, so that's why I chose that one.
23. Finland: Opettajainhuone by Annika LutherIt's story about a high school in Helsinki. There are mainly 5 different teachers and the book tells about their life. It was ok book about school life, where I also work daily.
24. Finland: Iiris Lempivaaran levoton ja painava sydän by Riikka PulkkinenSurprise Suprise I'm back in Finland.
This was a story about young girl, who goes through a break up and have all kinds of ideas and adventures now that she's a single. Or individual like she says in the book.
25. USA, MISSOURI: Gone Girl by Gillian FlynnVery interesting book. I never knew what was coming. But at the end I only had one question in my head. WHAT'S WRONG WITH AMY?
26. SPACE: The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I read it in Finnish, so it wasn't this exactly book, but in my version, there were also all 5 parts..
27. USA - Montana: Innocent Foxes by Torey L. HaydenIt's a book about a movie star's son and little bit stupid woman, who's boyfriend ends up kidnapping the boy. They go on having a adventure, and some point the woman and the boy will be friends. At the end, everything goes well and good wins.
28. FINLAND: Avioliittosimulaattori by Veera NieminenStory about a young girl, who falls in love and moves in with his new boyfriend, to live with him a month. He lives in the country side and he has a brother, uncle and dad, who are all little bit weird and they all live together. So it's mainly about how different this girl is compared to all those men, and how she can manage all and if she wins them on her side.
29. FRANCE: The Confidant by Hélène GrémillonIt was very weird story about a young woman, whom mum dies and she starts to get these weird letters. It wasn't too clear about the story and some parts were just confusing, so I really didn't like this book at all.
30. RUSSIA: Hytti nro 6 by Rosa LiksomThis is a story about a young girl, who travels through Russia on the Siberia Railway. She will have a old man with her at the cabin, who's really weird. It's a book about them in the train.
Some way this was very boring story about very interesting travels.
31. USA: New York: The Goldfinch by Donna TarttFinally I read it! Very long, and the first part made me think that I won't be finishing it ever. The middle part and the end was much more interesting than the beginning.
Also there's parts which happens in Las Vegas, Nevada.
32. USA: North Carolina: The Notebook by Nicholas SparksMy friend told me that I really need to watch this movie, so I decided to read the book at first.
Story about a couple, who are really in love. I think that it's the easiest way to describe what happens without any spoilers.
34. USA: Oklahoma: Dark Places by Gillian FlynnMainly the story happens in Missouri, but I have already used that state. Libby does goes to visit her dad in Oklahoma, so I can cross that state over.
And I liked this one really much. It was interesting and I never had a clue about who did murder their whole family.
35. AUSTRALIA: The Husband's Secret by Liane MoriartyVery good book and it was quite easy and wast to read, so it was just perfect to read before bed.
It's story about a city in Australia, where lives 4 women and they lifes starts from different places, but it all ends up in same place.
36. SOMALIA: The Orchard of Lost Souls by Nadifa MohamedIt's a story about 3 women in the middle of Somalian war and the year is 1987. There's this small girl, who lives on the streets, old woman, who breaks her hips and can't move anywhere from her bed and young woman, who is part of the military.
37. JAPAN: Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki MurakamiNot my favorite book. Mainly cause I thought that the story was boring.
It was my second Haruki Murakami's book, and I read from the net, that this wasn't as good as his earlier books, so I'm hoping that next one will be better one.
Anyways.. Tsukuru lives in Japan, but he also visits Finland, so if you need Finland for your country list, this is one choice.
38. USA: Indiana: The Fault in Our Stars by John GreenOf course I needed to read this as well, cause everyone else has read it. I liked it a lot, mainly cause it was quite easy read. Of course the story is sad and I cried a lot when I watched the movie, but it's a good book.
39. USA: Fight Club by Chuck PalahniukI love Fight Club the movie, so I needed to read this as well. It's little bit different than the movie, but very good read.
40. USA: Illinois: Uskollinen by Veronica Roth
I hate when story ends in the middle, so I needed to read this 3rd part as well. This was such a bad book, that I don't really think that anyone needs to read it, if you can live your life without knowing what happens to Tris and Four.
It sets in the future, but the city is Chicago, so that's the reason why I can cross Illinois off my list..
41. USA: California : Screwjack by Hunter S. Thompson
Screw-Jack was very short and it includes 3 short stories by Hunter S. Thompson. This is mainly about writing where really isn't any plot. But one of the short story the writer is in LA, so California is off from my list.
42. USA: Alabama: Looking for Alaska by John GreenYoung guy goes to new school, meets new friends, falls in love a girl.
43. USA: Florida: Paper Towns by John GreenIt was almost like Looking for Alaska, so I didn't really enjoyed this one. People in this book was annoying ones.
But they end up taking road trip, so there's couple states, which they drive through, if you need USA's states in your challenges.
44. USA: Maine: Orphan Train by Christina Baker KlineThere's 2 stories, which happens in Maine and in Minnesota. It was ok read. Not great, but not bad one either. I did like Vivian's story more than Molly's.
