Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

This year, I'm hoping to accomplish three challenges and read 50 books. I currently have all the books I hope to read in the lists, but they very well might change as the year goes on. I also had to start one of the challenges about ten days before the new year because that's just how it worked out with my schedule, but I'm still counting it for 2013. =) If something is struck out, it's been read. If something has a check next to it, it means I own it.

Ok, I'll admit I came here because I saw my name. I just looked at some of the challenge stuff. It feels very confusing and I wound up at some link toward Pinterest. I'm determined to avoid yet another time suck. I'm also not sure that reading should ever be a "challenge," although I do understand that it could be motivator and that's a good thing. (I used to run for pleasure, but training for an event got me out on the days I didn't feel like it).

But here's my question: Are these challenges created by you, or is there some master list somewhere? I've seen a list, but not an explanation? And what does: He said/she said mean????
