This will be the first year I have challenged myself to read a certain number of books. Recently I have been deep into HF but am going to challenge myself to branch out and even try to read more NON F.

What did you think about Stardust? I think it was because I'd seen the movie first and fell in love with the characters and how they were there that when I read the actual book the characters and story weren't as exciting.

I was very disappointed that it wasn't as exciting as the movie. It was a very light easy read, which isnt always a bad thing, but I expected more.
Adriana wrote: "What did you think about Marco in The Night Circus?"I loved his character! To come from such beginnings and to accomplish so much. He was passionate in his love for Celia, creative and deep. Did u enjoy the book?

I was annoyed with Marco. I read it for a book club read and everyone was against me on Marco :P
I thought he should have told the fortune teller girl already that it was over. It clearly wasn't for her. I did like it otherwise but reading it for a book club made it seem slower than I'm sure it was.
Wow, you are doing really good! I think you and I went too low for our goals.

What did you think of Slammerkin? I'm not sure if I should read it or not and I'd love to hear your opinion. What sort of book is it?
Adriana, I do agree with the fact he should have been honest with her from the start. I don't think he truly cared about her, he was for Celia the whole time. And yes, thank you!! I have never kept track of my reading and I think I underestimated myself :D Keep at it, we'll blow em away!

I loved Slammerkin. It is a very touching story of a very young girl in London that is kicked out of her home, forced to take on prostitution as a living. She meets good characters along the way, those that care about her. It does not end well for her, and that made me cry. I thought it was very well told, and I have read others by the author that I enjoyed as well. Give it a try, I think it will move you.
Adriana wrote: "Were neck and neck with the same number of books read (:What's been your favorite so far?"
So far I think The Night Circus has been my favorite with Slammerkin a close second.
Jack wrote: "Wow, you're doing great if your goal is 100. :-D"Thanks Jack, my goal is 100 but at this rate I fear its going to be more. Did you set yourself a goal for the year? And did you read SLammerkin yet? What did you think about it?
Well my goal is 100 as well. And to be honest with you I'm still reading the same book since I asked you about Slammerkin! For some reason my reading has slowed down since the beginning of February. The little 2013 Reading Challenge widget on my homepage says that I'm 2 books behind. :-(
Oh no!!!!! I am 10 books ahead :D
You will get there, I have times when I just need some other outside entertainment besides books. Hopefully I can find a full time, not just part time job and I wont have the time for so much reading. Love reading but gotta pay the bills too :D
Adriana wrote: "What did you think of The Handmaid's Tale?"It's one of my favorites. I have read it before but it's been since high school (years!). So I am reading it for my every year challenge.
I love the way the author incorporates her past life/memories into the story.
Thanks! I know that it's supposed to be a must read classic that everyone seems to like but I've never really gotten an actual opinion on it.
