Cabin 15: Raylin
Raylin rolled his eyes as his trainer talked. Something about working on his swordsmanship next time, and how he should work on a strategy to make the other people not want to go against him in the games. Today, he was supposed to practice his archery. Raylin nodded, then heard a bark at his heels and looked down. "Where'd you come from? I thought that you were with Katherine..." He picked the pup up and scratched his head. "Mangy furball." He muttered, though he was hiding a smirk from his trainer.
Katherine heard the instructor, amused. Then she saw the pup go into his arms and growled under her breath. Big mistake since the pup looked her way indirectly.
Raylin sighed. "Excuse me, Sir." He told his trainer, walking with Jax out to the front. "Katherine!" He called, holding Jax tight.
Jax barked as Kat rounded the corner, adorning the pup with her gaze but she didn't say a word. The pup seemed to be oblivious to her feeling and wiggled in Raylin's arms. "Sorry?" she said, it coming more like a question. She felt her fists clench. She hated to apologize especially if it wasn't her fault.
"Don't be. I'm sure dogs can get out if hand sometimes. I think you should be sorry for sneaking around my house instead of knocking on the door." Raylin said, setting the pup down.
She narrowed her eyes. She was silent, she knew it and yet he knew she went around the back. She put a face of expressionless features and lied smoothly, "I don't know what you are talking about." she made herself look confused.Katherine's legging was getting tugged ny the hyper pup. She looked down on it, eyebrows raised.
Raylin smirked. "You came around from the corner of my house. You hesitated before you came up with that lie. You have Sentrapricks on your leggings. Just a few reasons that I know you were back there. You're very quiet, though. I give you that. It'll come in handy. Oh, and the Sentrapricks cause rashes, so you might want to take a warm bath."
She wanted to smack him but she clenched mouth closed. She didnt know where her cabin was! She just knew she would be sharing with Jane. "Perfect," she muttered, "Just perfect," she turned and looked at the few cabins in sight, trying to hide her seeking gaze. Looking the guy, or Raylin, as she had learned she smiled, "no one exept my mother could tell when I was lying. I'll have to watch my mouth with you." she bit her lip, looking again, her leg starting to fidget from the pricks.
"You can use my bath if you can't find yours." Raylin offered. "I haven't really fine anything yet, do there's nit much to learn about me while I'm gone. And you wrong have to worry about bathing with a guy around. My trainer is probably gone, and as you heard, I'm headed top archery. It's an empty cabin. What harm can you do?"
She hid her smirk, she had done a lot of damage in other towns, and that was on accident, but she wasn't about to tell him that. She did feel relieved that she could take a bath and not have a boy around. She always took showers but for the rash, she knew it would take her a while. "is there a catch?" she hated owing debts.
Raylin shook his head. "I'll see you around, Katherine." He told her, before turning his back on her and heading back to the training areas.
((Sorry I had some things to do XD))Katherine entered the bathroom, locking the door. She went into the tub of hot water, not caring as it scalded her skin. She looked at her leg and could see the rash fading slowly. She leaned her head back thinking of the Final Test. Was she really ready?
Katherine got out finally, putting on the same clothes. She had to cut off the bottom of her leggings so she wouldn't get pricked with any left over needles. She cleaned up the bathroom and came out, Jax following her tail. She wrote a note to Raylin, half thanking him and went out to the forest.
-------------------------------------------Katherine entered, easily picking the lock on the cabin. She estimated she had a few minutes and in her hand she held a knock out powder in a soft velvet pouch. She eyed the area, searching. Going into the bedroom, she started to look through Raylin's things. He had to have some weakness. Something, she bit her lip. Plans. What he was going to do as a Master.
She ran a hand along his dresser as she crouched, opening the door so quiet, you could've been next to her and not made a sound. She wore her leather gloves so no fingerprints would be left anywhere.
There was nothing. She sighed and stood up.
Jane was probably back, she pondered as she made sure everything was just the way it was and she exited from the bag, jumping over the bushes so she wouldn't get a rash. She discarded the gloves into her pocket and went back to the Club.

Katherine entered the pathway to Raylin's house. She needed to spar with someone and so far, only Raylin she could think of would give her a challenge. Her hair was still slightly damp as she went to the cabin and knocked on the door, Jax jumping in circles.
About to knock again till Jax growled at her. "He's sleeping probably," she said. She let out a breath. She couldn't sleep after her conversation with Jane. Everyone has choices but the damned. Man, wasn't that a little cryptic, even for Katherine. She couldn't believe that she herself said the very words.
She walked to Apprentice Club after leaving a note pinned to the door to meet her there.
Raylin woke up about 5 minutes after she'd left. He walked to the shower and cleaned himself up, then got dressed in clothes that hadn't been ripped up by arrows yet, and decided to go for a little practice. When he saw the note on his door, he smirked. Never thought you'd want to hang out with me, but okay. He stretched and decided that a change of plans wouldn't be too bad. So he started off towards the club.
Raylin closed the door behind Katherine and Jax, then leaned against it. "You're sure you're okay?" He asked, which was weird because normally he wouldn't care.
Jax settled on the ground comfortably. "I'm fine," she snapped. Nothing looked wrong, no bruises really except for her side but she healed fast. "Nothing but practically selling my soul to the devil," she gave him a pointed look.
"Well, as long as he doesn't mind sharing it with me..." Raylin teased. He held out his hand to her. "Stop throwing a fit. I'm not going to make you do anything stupid."
She rolled her eyes and then smiled, "You never know." But she stopped complaining. She leaned against the wall, not knowing what to do now.((Want me to post pics as we go so we know where we are?))
((Um, sure. If you want.))Raylin smirked and scooped her up playfully. "Never let your guard down. You never know when someone's going to drop you." He told her, suddenly letting her go and dropping her on the couch.
Katherine almost winced as she was touched but as he dropped her, she had been on guard. She landed with a thump and was about to roll so she could flip over the couch and push it at Raylin.((Eh, I don't what kind you want so forget it XD That and I'm lazy to search))
Raylin winced, forgetting his own injuries in the comment and held his stomach. "You're almost typo good of a fighter." He murmured, before Hong to the kitchen and getting two bags of frozen peas. He came back, one on his abdomen and one that he tossed to her. "Sorry. You'd said you weren't hurt."
"Almost? What do you mean almost? We were fair in that fight." She caught the peas and reluctantly took her leather jacket off, pulled her tank up only to mid stomach and put the freezing bag on the bruise. It sent chills down her spine but it was relieving.
"Yeah. You're an excellent fighter. The only reason you gave in was because I'd pushed you to your limits, but you'd done the same to me. Any better, and you'd find things come to you too easily. You'd be too good. There wouldn't be a challenge for you anymore."
"Hmph," she said, but he was right. And she knew it! Though of course she wouldn't admit it aloud. Jax, who had seemed to smell food, was acting like a real wolf tracking it's prey, target.... a cookie.
((Wtf, phone? How do you get disgorge from challenge? >.<))Raylin chuckled at the sight of Jax, then sat next to her. "Is there any good reason why you hate me?"
((That's what I thought XD))Jerk. Good fighter. Full of yourself.
But what else?
Oh, yeah, the way he made her feel as if she was a child again, finding out what she had done with the bushes and such.
She didn't give a answer but a glance.
Raylin sighed. "Fine. Keep your reasons to yourself. How's Jane been? I haven't had a chance to talk to her lately, and you're cabin buddies with her, so you probably know."
"She was acting a little weird. She's hanging out with Jace." They had clearly ditched her at the Vally and she was glad. She was getting to attached to them, even if her contest might be a year later the the rest of them.
"Oh." Raylin said simply. He hadn't admitted feeling anything for her, but there was a sense that he'd lost her somehow. Like he deserved her, and she should have been begging to be with him. Yet, Kat had been seeming to fill they connection... Not that he'd ever let anyone close to him.
Katherine was so tired, so drained that she wasn't watching what she was saying. "I just don't want them to get hurt. My brother always... I mean... used to, say that if you get close to someone your dead. My mother only married after the Test. Pffft, but they were right and when it comes down to it, Jace and Jane will have to make a choice. Who survives."
"If it comes down to both of them." Raylin pointed out. "Do you know, yet, if you're competing this year?"

Jax seemed to run everywhere, he was definitely hyper. Then he saw a cabin open and dashed inside. Katherine cursed. She went around to the back, seeing if she could lure the pup outside without getting noticed. She was stealthy, she knew that. Katherine didn't make a sound.
