I love "drift from my intentions." The very reason I don't usually declare ahead of time myself. I look forward to reading your reviews this year.
Look forward to your reviews, Ellen. I have abandoned many an intended book. I find it especially difficult to review books that do nothing for me, good or bad.
I will have to remember 'drift.' It doesn't sound nearly so much like shirking some responsibility -- worded that way. The handful of poems I have seen by Steve Lautermilch have me intrigued.
7. The Egg Mistress by Jessica Poli8. Falling In Caves by Diane Kistner
9. Imperfect Prayers by Richard Carr
I've just picked up a batch of books at a used book store, and have no idea which I'll tackle next.
10. Dear Ghosts, by Tess Gallagher11. Salem in Séance, by Susana H. Case
12. Nine Horses, by Billy Collins
With these, I have now reported on the books (Carr, Case and Collins) I read between reading the Gallagher book and figuring out what to say about it, so I feel like I've untied a knot and can move on. No idea where I'm going next.
13. Gardening Secrets of the Dead by Lee Herrrick14. District and Circle, by Seamus Heaney
15. Swear, by Hakim Bellamy
16. Freak Show by Valerie Bandura
I thought I might be taking a break from this, because I am in the midst of slogging through Milton's Paradise Lost, (one of those "ought to have read it" volumes) but I bought books at two recent readings and I am eager to share them.
Long books really slow me down as well. I eventually want to tackle Paradise Lost as well. I really enjoyed reading your reviews this year and look forward to more next year.

1. Rim, by Steve Lautermilch
