Please, please, please, help me find some more!

Kirstine (kirse) The Brothers Lionheart

It's kind of a children's book, but still very good.

message 6: by Kirstine (new)

Kirstine (kirse) I also just came across this: Starfall.

I haven't read it, but it says in the description the main characters are twin brothers.

I've read the reviews here and the first pages on Amazon and it looks good, thank you!

Robert Hunt (robertahunt) | 5 comments In 'Genation: Earth Volk' it is about two cool brothers, Eddy Evon and Grizz. Total action, real cool!

message 9: by Robert (new)

Robert Hunt (robertahunt) | 5 comments In 'Genation: Grizz: Rise of the Blackguard' Grizz is part human and part Volk and he has four other brothers who are also part human but they each have different Volk parts, like Oblit has a Volk chest, Grud has Volk arms, Stroy has Volk legs and Narl has a Volk head. Eddy Evon is a full Volk with no human in him at all.
This is worth looking into.

I had a long night with Harry Dresden and I have to admit that his vampire half-brother is not that bad at all...
Blood Rites

I have to add Reaper here, and whole Soul Screamers series, if you wish. I don't like books centered on girl character, so I don't like the series much, but Reaper is great.

And I don't get it how it is possible that I haven't add Brigid Kemmerer's Elemental yet. I especially liked the second book Spark

Wow, this is really full of action! I still wonder how is it that they are still alive at the end of the book!

Robert Hunt (robertahunt) | 5 comments These discussions about brothers is actually a lot of fun and it reminds me of what it was like growing up with my own brother. We are still the best of friends and the worst of enemies. Only brothers can be like this.

I'm now completely lost in the world of Sherrilyn Kenyon. She's got loads of brothers, but I miss action in her books a little bit.

Has anyone read Muffy Morrigan's The Legacy or The Hunt?
I read the excerpts and so and it looks great, but it's like impossible to get a copy in my country... :/

Lover Awakened Not really my cup of tea, but in the end it was really good. I generally love the development of the relationship between the brothers, and that's what I found in this book.

message 21: by Adele (new)

Adele | 183 comments Thanks for liking my list. Based on your posts here, I think you would really like The Demon's Lexicon series by Sarah Rees Brennan if you haven't already read it. One of the best brother relationships I've read.

Thanks for your suggestion :) I've already tried to read this series, but it so much reminds me of Cal Leandros series I just couldn't get over the feeling that it's just a bad copy of it...
So you think I should give it another try?

message 23: by Adele (new)

Adele | 183 comments That's funny actually, because I have tried the Cal Leandros series a couple times and I keep feeling like I should love it, but I just don't get into it! :-)
Something about the writing style, or the relationship, or something . . .
How would you compare Chimera and Basilisk to the Cal Leandros series? I've only tried those once and would be willing to give them another shot. ;-)
If you didn't like the Demon Lexicon books on your first try you might want to give them one more chance, but it sounds like something different in our tastes unrelated to the brothers focus will probably still turn you off. I'm sorry I don't have a better recommendation for you. I will think on it some more. I read and loved the Fancher books and the Melusine series and Kemmerer's Elementals series, so I know our tastes aren't that different. :-)

message 24: by Calls (new)

Calls | 490 comments Mod
Well, it seems like it's either Cal Leandros or Demon Lexicon, you can't love them both :D
I'd say that Korsak brothers and Leandros brothers are completely different, but... their relationship is somehow very similar. Still, I own all the Leandros books and I'm rereading them over and over again, and I do not own Chimera nor Basilisk and I can't remember when I read it last time. It absolutely doesn't mean that the books are bad (I love them too), on the contrary, it might mean that they are really different and you might like them even if you didn't like the Leandros series.

I see that I concealed Dreamhouse Kings Young Adult 3-In-1 Bundle from you... I'd say that it's for children, so I'm ashamed I've read it - excuse me, I was bored and curious :)

You're welcome! I'm looking forward to reading your book! And I'm always glad to hear from fellow bromancers.

message 29: by Roxane (new)

Roxane | 206 comments I had never heard of the Dragonlance Chronicles and the Jane S. Fancher's trilogy, thanks for the recommendations! I will check them out!

I love Rob Thurman's books, even though they are pretty heavy on the sarcasm.

If I can recommend some bromance books (without brothers but still focused on the bonds of friendship between two men):

The Riyria Revelations by Michael J. Sullivan
Theft of Swords
Rise of Empire
Heir of Novron

Hadrian and Royce are two of my favorite characters, and the books are crazily good.

There is also a series out by new published author Courtney Schafer
The Whitefire Crossing
The Tainted City

Also another great fantasy with lots of action and plot twists, and a great friendship between the two main characters, Dev and Kiran.

message 30: by Roxane (new)

Roxane | 206 comments Oh! And I totally forgot about Transformation by Carol Berg! Don't be fooled by the ugly cover, this book is definitely worth the read. Looooved it. But I'm a sucker for a good slave/prince developing friendship, so I am slightly biased. (Which is also why I couldn't stop watching the Tv Show Merlin even though the plot holes and writing were sometimes atrocious.)

Here are some books I didn't like much, but you may like them, who knows...
The Summoning, The Awakening, The Reckoning - foster brothers and girl centered book.
White Cat, Red Glove, Black Heart.
Thicker Than Water - yeah, Felix Castor has a brother... Very strange one...
Tunnels, Deeper - YA, maybe.
Mythago Wood - in the end the brothers are against each other because of the woman.
Nightrise - I actually didn't get it...
Rot and Ruin, Dust and Decay.
Dog Warrior
This Dark Endeavor - young Frankenstein :) This one I actually liked.

Roxane | 206 comments I've just stumbled across this book, has anyone heard of it?

Keepers of Arden (The Brothers Volume 1) by L.K. Evans

Keepers of Arden (The Brothers Volume 1)

(I've just discovered I'm friends with the author, too, apparently. xD)

message 34: by L.K. (new)

L.K. Evans | 11 comments Ha! Where has this group been all my life?!?!? I do love books that revolve around sibling relationships. I prefer them to get along versus those siblings that are arch-enemies. Bromance like Theft of Swords works for me, too.

I've got one to add to the list: Swords of Winter Swords of Winter (The Forgotten Kin) by G.L. Lathian .

If I come across any others, I'll definitely post them here! And I look forward to checking out some of the ones already listed!

message 35: by Roxane (new)

Adele | 183 comments I just started reading Firebrand Firebrand (Rebel Angels, #1) by Gillian Philip

It is a young adult fantasy book focused on a young Sithe (kind of like fae) boy and his much older brother.

So far, I like it.

Andre Norton - Huon of the Horn - no happy end warning :/
- Lord Of Thunder - it has a potential, still I miss something in the book. Maybe more action would be nice...

Roxane | 206 comments OMG GUYS. I'VE JUST WON MY FIRST GOODREADS GIVEAWAY EVER.

The Grace of Kings (The Dandelion Dynasty, #1) by Ken Liu

And it looks AWESOME. I nearly bought it at the store two days ago thinking that I never win any giveaways anyway. BUT IT HAS HAPPENED! And I am ecstatic.

Will let you guys know how it is.

Roxane | 206 comments Update: The book was terrible. Don't buy it, just look at the pretty cover and leave it on the shelf. It was such a struggle to finish it.

On the UP side, WHO FIRST SUGGESTED Half Bad (Half Bad, #1) by Sally Green ?! BECAUSE THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE! Never would have bought it before becoming a member of this group. SO THANK YOU ALL. Between that and I Hunt Killers (Jasper Dent, #1) by Barry Lyga I seriously need to adjust my view on "teen" books. I used to stay away from them, what a mistake I was making.

I have to check here more often, for there was no notification that something's going on in here from GR... I share your opinion on teen books - I used to avoid them, but then I read one and now I'm all in. Looking forward to reading those two!

message 46: by Jenna (new)

Jenna | 46 comments Reckless by Cornelia Funke is worth a read! It's been a while since I read it, and there might have been a bit fighting for a girl but it was great anyways.

message 47: by Roxane (new)

Roxane | 206 comments I've just ordered the sequels to a book I read this summer and which I absolutely loved. Thought I should come here and rec it!

The Cloud Roads (Books of the Raksura, #1) by Martha Wells
The Cloud Roads by Martha Wells

It doesn't have brothers. It has a little bit of bromance, that I guess will be expanded upon in the sequels. The main character (Moon) has been alone for a long time and doesn't trust that easily, which is understandable. But he had some nice moments with a lot of characters, and I loved those he had with Chime in particular and always looked forward to them.

It's one of the best books I've read this year, and I can't recommend it enough. Especially if you're tired of reading the same fantasy tropes over and over and are looking for something a little bit different!

So, has anyone read Nevermore yet? I'm struggling with it for a month already, putting it down, reading something else, then trying again... I'm currently on page 186 and I just stopped, started reading The Virtu for the thousandth time, just to read something that won't EVER disappoint me...
Not that Nevermore disappointed me, just... there are some really boring parts, and I know that all I'll get when I come through them is a cliff hanger - that's not really a motivation :/
So I think I'll wait for the next book, then I'll continue reading. Yes, this is a rant, but I had to say that to be able to put the book down with a clear conscience. It's still my favourite series, I just hope the next book will be... more like the previous ones.
Sherry said it all for me in her review, by the way.
Still, read it and make your own opinion, hopefully you'll love it more than I do ;)

message 50: by Roxane (new)

Roxane | 206 comments Well damn, that's not encouraging. Just bought it last week, been anxious/dreading to start it to be honest. Because the last one (Downfall) bored me so much.

What is happening to this series, dammit!
