It really was Kay. I'm on sort of this noir kick right now, and by comments made by other writers, he is THE go-to guy in the genre. When I saw this book of short stories, I figured this would give me a nice taste of his writing and I really like non-fiction too, so learning about his personal life and what was going on in the world (or his part of it) while he was writing and selling his stories was really quite interesting.

This was actually a fascinating collection of rarer Dashiell Hammett stories along with commentary by Vince Emery about the world at the time Dashiell wrote the stories and a biography of sorts about what was going on in his life. I was fascinated.
