Beth wrote: "3) The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton ~ really liked this one!"I liked this one too! I've read all of Kate Morton's books.
Beth wrote: "1) The House at Tyneford by Natasha Solomons ~ starting the year off right with a great read!"I listened to this on audio in Dec - loved it!
5)Something From Tiffany’s by Melissa Hill ~ I read this in about 3 hours with a lot of skimming. Not very well written, but a sweet ending. I would not put this on a to-read list.
10) The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan.... this book was just okay. I liked the premise of the story, but did not like any of the characters at all.
11) The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls ~ I really liked this simple story. I enjoy Jeannette Walls' writing style and the characters she creates. I hope she continues writing fiction!
14) The Misinterpretation of Tara Jupp by Eva Rice....almost as good as The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets! Loved it!
20) Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor ~ part of my Chicks-on-lit "chunky" bookclub this month. Loved it at first and then I grew weary of it. No characters to like or feel much compassion for. It ended very abruptly as if the author grew tired of the story as well. Very similar to Gone With The Wind(but set in England in the 1600's) in terms of the main character - Amber - but not as creative of a storyline. Many, many loose ends throughout the book.
21)Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline ~ great book! I am so far behind on my 50 books challenge, but at least I am finding some good reads on my quest. I hope I at least reach 40!!
22) Mail Order Kid by Marilyn Coffey - I read this biography to gain a more in depth understanding of the orphan train movement.... This was not a very good read. Very basic and somewhat poorly written - I will look for other books on this topic
23) Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Woman's Prison by Piper Kerman ~ great read! Could not put it down!
24) Somewhere Off the Coast of Maine by Ann Hood ~ one of my favorite authors! Really liked this book and am glad that I finally got a chance to read it
25)The House Girl by Tara Conklin ~ I liked the idea of this book, but did not like the writing style or the way the story was told at all.
26)Gertruda's Oath: A Child, a Promise, and a Heroic Escape During World War II by Ram Oren ~ a fascinating story that was a very quick read because of it's simple writing style. I didn't love it, but the story is one to remember
Don't worry about the number of books. Enjoy the read! I am sure you will make the 50. You have 3 1/2 month left. :)
28) A Place At The Table by Susan Rebecca White ~ loved it! A great story that crosses and winds through the lives of several very likeable characters.
29) The Baker's Daughter bySarah McCoy ~ I liked the historical aspect of this story. It was seen from a different viewpoint from normal WWII Germany novels.
30) The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews~ an okay, easy read. I was tired of the story about 75% of the way through.
35)The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty ~ a real page turner by about halfway through. Great plot about how lives interconnect
36) The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly - a wonderful sequel to The Tea Rose. I loved it and look forward to finishing the trilogy soon!
