Well members, thanks to a suggestion by one of our wonderful member, Tracy, we have decided to start a separate post on the book Hopeless by Colleen Hoover . For those of you who have not read it yet, please be aware that we will be discussing the book in great lengths and will most likely reveal spoilers. Our suggestion is you don't read on. For those of you who have read this amazing and brilliant book, and are still living in the haze and recovering from the experience that is HOPELESS, this is where you can come to work through it.

I know that I for one am having a hard time concentrating on reading another story and giving those books the attention they deserve. But, I can't!! Hopeless has become a book that will stay with me forever and I will find myself trying to compare every other read to it from now on.

Thank You Sylvia! I was having DT's and didn't really know how to handle them. Seriously, I haven't read a book that has made me feel this way in forever. I have read books that have left me breathless, I have read books that have left me amazed, I have read books that have left me stunned but never have I read a book that has left me this way. I can't even describe how I feel about Holder's sensitive, sexy, heart throbbing self. I can't tell you how I feel about how strong and courageous Sky is. I can not explain how my feelings, even after a day, are still swirling around my head and heart. I have never been so drawn into a book, I actually feel like I knew these people. It's the only explanation I can give as to why I am feeling all of these emotions.

I want to read Hoover's other books but I'm not sure my heart could handle that. I'm almost afraid to read anything because what I would have loved before Hopeless, well I'm not so sure I would now. Besides, I almost fainted every time Sky did.

I may need to go to an AA meeting, even though I don't drink, I really need to learn those 12 steps. I could go on and on about what this book did to me but in the end it was just AMAZING!

Sonali | 42 comments I am reading this book and have completed 90% of it.
I have just completed the part where Sky learns about her father's doings..huh...How can anyone even think about doing something to there own daughter...sick!

Sonali | 42 comments Tracy, I have to agree with you. The way sky handles herself is courageous and Holder is simply WOW!

Sonali just when you think you have gotten through the emotional parts something else hits poor Sky and Holder. You still have another twist to go. Well, actually maybe more than one. EVERYTIME Holder and Sky turns around something else is slapping them in the face! It really gets the emotions going!

Sonali | 42 comments There's more???
I don't know how much more they both can handle??
Hell, I don't know how much more I can handle!

I know exactly what you are saying! When I thought my eyes were swollen from tears and my heart was broke beyond repair and I absolutely could not take anything else, anything else happened!

Sylvia | 13086 comments Mod
Tracey...you nailed it right on the head...Sky and Holder feel more real to me than any other book characters...that's the issue. We have invested in them emotional and that is so brilliant on Hoover's part. I have not read her other two books but have heard such great things about them too and I'm sure other members who have will be able to answer that for you.

You are also right in thinking that from now on, no other book will pull you in like that and keep you up at night and the next day and so forth. I am the same. I love everything there ever is to love about this book and the things these two go through and just when you think they have pulled through, they get slapped upside the head and are forced to deal with a whole other set of issues, yet again. They are both courageous and strong in every way.

Amanda (mandy) | 1311 comments This book was/is amazing. Collen Hoover has a special way of making characters real. Her other books have the same effect as Hopeless. You feel like you know these characters. You feel their pain as if it were your own even if you couldn't possibly understand it. She manages to make you feel each and every emotion so much it's like you're in an emotional coma when you're done. Sky and Holder have definitely cemented a place in my heart. I live them terribly!

End of day two and I am still reeling. I have made my niece and my sister read this book and although they have started they have yet to get to the meat of it. My recovery has been slow but I think my heart beat has gotten back to normal. My breathing is still sporadic but I think it will be better tomorrow as long as I keep taking deep breaths. I just wonder if I am the only one that has had physical ailments because of this book.

A little drama to express how much this book has affected me. LOL

Jess | 33 comments Aw you's have nailed pretty much exactly what this book was to me too. Definitely one of the ultimate-all-time-favourites! Going into the re-read again and again pile! If only I could buy the hardcover to add to my collection but I havent seen it in any of the bookstores yet so maybe I cant buy it in Oz yet or cant get it in the backwards town I live in :P

But seriously, this book was just amazing. Simply amazing. My poor hubby has pretty much read the book for much I have ranted and raved and explained and cried during this book, poor bloke :P

Its definitely one book Im going to recommend to everyone who has eyes :P

Jess | 33 comments Wait, maybe only the ones with eyes...that can read :P

Holly (hollybisson) | 4 comments Completely agree with everyone here. I know I'm finding it hard to really engage with anything else now. The book I read afterwards actually made me angry that I could read something so incredible the day before then read something so meh!! I've loved other books before but there is just something about this one that I can't explain.

Slammed & Point of Retreat are amazing too. They won't disappoint anyone who is a bit nervous of being let down after reading Hopeless. Colleen Hoover will blow you away with the incredible poetry and feeling in Slammed. It's seriously like a piece of art and don't worry, you'll sob in that too, and well, you'll butterflying love PoR (you"ll get it when you read it)!!

Shelly | 959 comments Holder is the epitome of what a great guy should be! Sky is just awesomeness personified! How the two of them dealt with the obstacles they were faced with was truly phenomenal! I cant put into words how much I loved this story! Colleen Hoover is just simply terrific! My heart and emotions were so tied up in knots, I didn't know what to do with myself! And the twist with Sky and her father and what he did to her had me sick to my stomach but I hurt for Holder just as much. Colleen executed their journey beautifully in my opinion.

You were so right. I just completed it. My eyes are swollen, what with all the crying I have done and my cheeks are hurting from the constant big smile I have whenever I think of Sky and Holder together

Sonali | 42 comments The most amazing thing about Holder??? The way he wraps his pinky around sky's...that's just so adorable

Whats your most favorite thing about Holder?

Shelley | 5 comments This is one of those books that as soon as I finished it I knew that I would read it again and again. It is an amazing story.

Julie Reece I just read the first chapter and I confess I'm having a little trouble getting into it. The MC isn't pulling me in and I'm not finding her sympathetic at the moment. Keep going?

Thanks Sonali and I am not normally excitable. Not sure if that is all because of the book or mostly this group rubbing off on me.

OMG do I have a few things to say to her. How can she do that to us? I never even had a man make me cry like that...wait I never even made a man cry like that. Why would she treat people like that? I had thoughts that I know were sinful and I hated.

Oh, maybe I should wait for the interview. Way to go Sylvia!

Annie Brewer (anniebrewer) | 2351 comments Hahaha, I'm in such a slump. I'm starting Slammed tonight. I need more Hoover writing. She's so awesome. I'm meeting her in 2 weeks at a signing and get a paperback with her autograph. OMG, I can't freakin wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVED this book so much! I told her on FB on IM that I am going to be fangirling like crazy and she told me she can't wait. Ahhhhhhhhhhh

Man just when I thought you were doing so well with those steps. You take more of the drug and we go back to step one, I mean it.

On a better note, YEAAA!!! Where is her signing? That has to be exciting. Can you take a copy for all of us (psst not really just me we won't tell the others). I need to read up on her, I haven't been able to get past her book.

Annie Brewer (anniebrewer) | 2351 comments LMAO! What drugs??? Ohhhh, yeah the emotional overload drugs....haha. Yeah I'm addicted, what can I say?
