♥♥ Many Waters ♥♥ Many waters cannot quench love, Nor will rivers overflow it. ~ Song of Solomon 8:7

When I read this quote it felt heart touched but I don't fully understand it please explain. What i've understood is that water can't be measured like love and neither will rivers overflow just like love correct me if am wrong

It is a verse out of a book from the Old Testament of the Bible that speaks of explicit controversial love. The love is SO great that it cannot be contained. It's like....a raging fire that it cannot simply be put out.

The second part is like when people used to farm in biblical times they would plant close to the river because it was the most fertile soil. During those times if the rivers overflowed it would kill the crops, well she is saying that her love for him cannot be killed.

It's poetry, so I hope this helps.

Excellent explanation and brilliant quote. I think I may have to start reading the Old Testament, at least the Song of Solomon.

I love this quote in Angel.
