Today I'm enjoying the thought of our son's family's new puppy, Mocha.

She was born 12/26/08. So she's only 2+ months old. Her mother is a Dachshund and her father is a Jack Russell Terrier. They tell me it was an "oops" pregnancy. The neighbor owns the mother and father. Mocha was #4 of a litter of 4, 3 females, 1 male.

See photo here: ====>

We'll see her on Easter weekend.
They say she's a cuddler!
It's like having a new baby in the family. :)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Where are you today, Joy? No Monday topic posted! Hope all is OK.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Thank you for asking, Jim. Yes, I'm a bit behind this week. Last week was a rough week for us. Ed had his cataract surgery on Wednesday and I had a routine colonoscopy last Monday, which was no fun either. So between all the tension and running around, we're kinda beat. We're still waiting for Ed's vision to improve after the surgery. They say it takes a while for the swelling to go down inside the eye.

Today I'm due at physical therapy in less than an hour. But I expect to be back in form when I get back. I never expected growing old to be this much of a pain in the neck and everywhere else. LOL We've been healthy as horses up to now.

It's the old muscles. They don't recover as fast as they once did. My son says all I need is more exercise. But, the more I exercise, the more I hurt. LOL They say: "No pain, no gain!" We'll see if they're right. :)

Thanks for asking! TTYL

PS-I don't think too many people are reading this section of the group discussion. So I doubt if my postings were missed much. I appreciate your concern.

That must have been a hard time for both of you, Nina. How is your husband now? Did he have to have heart surgery?

Ed has an eye doctor app't tomorrow. So we'll see what the doctor says. Thank you for your wishes.

She is adorable and because my "granddog" is a Jack Russell, of course I think she is grand! nina

(G) I can't wait to see my own new granddog. :)
Imagine, when the family gets together at our house, we'll have 4 dogs in the house, plus another if our son babysits his friend's dog. That's 5 dogs! Imagine doggie mealtime! We'll have to separate them.

BTW, I believe Jim's dogs are Jack Russells too.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Yes, we have 4 JRT's. As you can see from our family pictures, we abuse them terribly. Here's one sleeping on my daughter's head.

Jim,
You should be reported to the "Society for the Prevention of Spoiling Dogs Outrageously"! :)

Cute pics. You sure are a "horsey" family!

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Horsey & doggy. Our backyard now has the agility course setup in it. 10 different obstacles the dogs must over come. Pixie is now learning them, too. She loves the tunnels, of which we have 3. (I need to make one into a 90 degree bend - maybe this weekend.) She loves the parachute tunnel, which starts out as an open tunnel & then collapses. She charges through it as fast as her little legs will carry her.

Pixie is even doing the teeter-totter, which Marg wasn't going to test her on yet, but she followed Molly & now has fun running back & forth. Amber followed Molly one time, but Molly, a medium sized dog, was going too fast & Amber was catapulted through the air. She's been leery of it ever since. Doesn't care for flying, I guess.

We do NOT spoil our dogs. They are simply members of the family; entitled to sleep in beds, sit on chairs & all. We don't like them more (or less) than the kids, which may explain why the names get mixed up all the time. ;-) Erin says Harley is her sister, since Margaret mixes them up so often.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments LOL - Jim, please take pics or movies of the dogs going through those agility courses. You can post the movies on YouTube.

You sure do seem to enjoy an active life. More power to you!

About my husband's health after the heart attacks. Acutally, he had an attack and almost died twelve years ago. The 911 guys saved him en route to the hospital and then a cardiologist ordered an angioplasty. They were going to put a stent in but it was in an awkward place so decided not to do it and just used the balloon to stretch the artery and sent him home thinking all was OK. One week later he had another heart attack and once again here came 911. After this episode they decided to do open heart surgery but the proceedure they did had only been done 11 times in the US and the dr here had never done it. His surgery was on TV, and they didn't stop the heart. They did take three of his ribs out and stitched the aortaL(sp?) to his beating heart..I can't explain it all but he has gotten along fine since then.. He does go to cardiologist regularly and has stress tests etc. So far, so good! nina

Nina, that must have been a frightening ordeal to go through! I'm so glad that your husband has survived it all.

Nina | 6069 comments We had faith in our doctors and that helped immensely and prayers from friends and family. We were fortunate. Also, my husband had excellent care both times in the hospital from the nurses in ICU and on the floor..He was so grateful he wrote a letter to the Kansas City Star and they published it and also the hospital posted a copy on the bulletin board. We must never forget what good people there are in this world..nina

Nina, that's a beautiful sentiment!
I've saved it in my quote collection, noting that it came from you.

I've saved it under the following two categories:
"Goodness-Human Goodness"
and
"People"

I searched all my quotes and couldn't find a similar one. That surprised me. So I saved yours.

Thank you.
