Should probably also mention Book Drum, which was recommended by Andreea on the Literary References thread. I've been using it for Swann's Way and have found it very handy: http://www.bookdrum.com/books/in-sear...It includes photos and videos. Book Drum is on Twitter, btw.

The BBC Radio 4 podcast archive link at bottom. One of my favorite discussions on Proust was found on this site.

Marcelita, I pinned all your stuff on my Pinterest. I'm going to be looking through them this weekend. Terrific stuff! Thank you.

Marcelita, the Carter site had already been posted above, by J.A., but thank you for drawing attention to the Webcams course.
I may register and try them this w/end. Have you done them? Should one wait until one has finished La recherche?

I just finished listening to it. Had no idea there was a plot, which can only be appreciated at the end. Yet another incentive to continue to the very last word! Interesting to hear Jacqueline Rose's thoughts on how singular ISOLT still is and why it's having a renaissance.

So pleased J.A. posted one of the pages of Proust Ink, as it gives me the opportunity to be a cheerleader for the course.
The webcams are part of the course, along with the 30 video lectures with the corresponding filing cabinets-overflowing with the reading assignments, the characters and themes, questions, suggested readings, miscellaneous items...and special mind-treats.
Mind-treats? Names in Combray, Vinteuil's "Little Phrase," Salon of Princess Mathilde, Paris of Proust...and those are just in the first four lectures.
There are 19 webcams, on the site already, and each one has a list of questions that were discussed. (Subscribers either sent in their questions prior or asked in real-time.) If, after going through the webcams, you don't see your question listed, you can ask Bill at the next webcam.
There were several times, when I knew I would miss the webcam, I sent my question in early and watched Bill answer it later. No graduate seminar could compete with that luxury.
You join for 5 years; the course is $150.00.
I have given several people the course as a present. Needless to say, it a gift that will never be returned!
The best part? When someone sends in a seemingly ordinary question and Bill goes off on one of his glorious riffs...which brings in all the wisdom of a lifetime of teaching and writing about Proust. And then...he laughs. And we think, "Oh joy of joys!"

Don't wait! It is Self-Paced.
Sorry Proustitute, gotta question for Marcelita: $150, is that for 1 year of the course, or 5 years...? I didn't see the 5 years bit. I think I might sign up.

Nick,
Did you see "Le salon de la rue Hamelin" on Yvette Gauthier's site?

After our conversation on the Photo thread, I felt such sadness. And looking at the Jacques-Émile Blanche portrait, which the artist had cut down from a full length in an argument with Proust, I remembered that there had a dog at Marcel's feet.
What a difference...look where the portrait is now:

For everybody who understands French, there will be a radio prgram on Proust at 4 pm (Paris time) on the "France Culture" radio. Here is the link : http://www.franceculture.fr/emission-...You can listen to it "live" though internet, or you can podcast it afterwards.

QUOTE: "This is an informal site dedicated to the writings of Marcel Proust that are mostly unavailable elsewhere in English translation.
I began this project in 1999 mainly for my own amusement but hopefully to be of interest to others with a similar fascination for this great writer. I have no qualifications as a translator and make no claims for absolute accuracy, they are simply my best efforts at conveying Proust's sometimes complex but always intriguing thoughts and language into English."
Naturally, some of the bits in Drafts and manuscripts are "spoilers", even the listings of 'em.
The bottom is the main page seems to have a sketch of our man Proust by M. de Montesquiou, too?

I remember a "lively" exchange between my husband, his mother and me...over a message left on an answering machine. We all heard it at the same time, replayed it, and all heard the message differently! Naturally, we believed the other two were "ridiculous."
Later, when I would transcribe, I discovered that, at times, what I wrote was not what was spoken: my brain had switched the word pattern.
