BTW - Sport is my enemy! I like pavlova though.
Anyways things I love about N.Z.

~ How we are a tiny country :)
~ The birds, and the bees, andt the flowers and the trees. (nope I'm not talking about that )
~ Spring and Summer ... And winter and autumn. ( BTW A.K.A. that's fall )

I <3 New Zealand.

Sina | 429 comments I'm from Norway, which is a super nice country. I do not know what we are most proud of, but should probably say the fine nature. I live on the west coast where it rains a lot, but am used to it.

message 3: by Sina (new)

Sina | 429 comments I have a question. If someone has anything they would like to know about a country that some one live in, can they ask?

message 4: by Niámh (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments Jenny has meet no one :P

message 8: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) Hello! I live in a small town in the United States, and all I'll say for now is that the weather is very wacky (my town's slogan is "It's the Climate!")

I haven't met many people from outside my own country, so its nice to meet you all. :)

message 9: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments It's nice to meet you too!

message 10: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Green Hi! I'm from Canada. There's quite a lot of clichés surrounding my country (maple syrup, polar bears, ice, hockey, mounties, see what I mean, eh?)

But umm... I guess most people don't know that basketball is Canadian? Oh, and it can get pretty hot here too, as well as freezing cold... I think Ontario/Quebec/Central Canada had heat waves into the 30's with humidity making it feel like over 40C last summer. Plus it's a fantastically beautiful place, but don't we all think that of our homes? :)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments Hey! I live in Australia, and we are awesome!

Before anyone asks, by the way, we don't have weird accents. Well, at least most of us don't. lol!
Australia is known for it's hot climate, but I live in Tasmania (Which, BTW is the island state to the south of Victoria) and it is cold most of the year. I don't know what cold is for you guys, but for us a majority of the year lingers around roughly 17 degrees Celsius.

But, back to Australia - It is really hot, we have awesome beaches, lots of wildlife and of course, the Great Barrier Reef (look up some pictures!), and I don't really know what else to say! What do you guys think when you think of Australia?

message 12: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments Lol hey neighbour! ;)

message 13: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments You better not say that Pavalova comes from Aussie cause we Kiwi's will get awfully mad. :P

message 14: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments Don't worry, as much as I love pavalova, I would never deprive it of it's origins! ;)

Although, if you want an Australian classic food... go Vegemite! :)

WHAT!17 Celsius thats like my summer right now its -2!!!!!

message 16: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments Really? What time of day is it?

message 17: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments I don't like summer much. In Tassie, in normally gets to 38 C, tops, but in other parts of Australia it was 50! I prefer the inbetween seasons; Autumn (Fall) and Spring

Cassandra Sophie wrote: "I don't like summer much. In Tassie, in normally gets to 38 C, tops, but in other parts of Australia it was 50! I prefer the inbetween seasons; Autumn (Fall) and Spring"

I'm the exact same, Autumn and Spring is the best (unless it's windy as heck).

And I'm from California. Where every breath you take is full of smog. And people litter the weirdest/nastiest things. And Hollywood is nicknamed hollyweird because that's were mentally unstable homeless people live.
I'm also an hour from the beach, and an hour from the mountains, and an hour from six-flags.-- which is the only plus.

message 19: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments Hollyweird? Lol do you love maple syrup? Joking! ;)

We have really nice beaches in Australia - the ones I go to in Tassie are only an hour away, but hour private beach house is 2 1/2 hours. But it is worth it! And we have mountains which are awesome for hiking and skiing. I <3 skiing! I have grown out of my skiis now, though :(

Go Marmite!!!! YUM.

We have equally nice beaches in N.Z. it's not as hot as Australia but windy.

message 21: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments Kiwi's are awesome! And Marmite? Really? I don't like it, sorry.

You guys have awesome ski mountains. You guys rock! :)

message 22: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments I know right?
Marmite is much better! :P
Anyways you guys got the Gold Coast!

message 23: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments Good point. Not that the Gold Coast is that amazing, I've only ever been there once. I went to all the theme parks though, and stayed in a 5 star hotel. That was pretty awesome! But, Queensland is too hot. I prefer cooler climates :)

message 24: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments Too hot in Aussie, I would not be able to stand the heat. *GASP* 5 star!

message 25: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments I know, the bushfires are horrible, especially in Tassie. I went to my beach house for 2 weeks, and we were really edgy cause the fires were really close. False alarm sirens kept going off in the middle of the night. Scary!

message 26: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments OMG, how did you sleep at night?

message 27: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) | 214 comments Well, I slept like a log. I don't have a very good survival sense! lol

message 28: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments LOL

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments Wow, great weather! Sounds absolutely fun. I'm not really the basketball type though.

message 32: by Chelsea (last edited Feb 13, 2013 12:45AM) (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments Sad reality. :(
But can you believed I played Touch Rugby in Primary School, that is how heavy the 'sporting' influence is in NZ.

message 33: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 2466 comments I always hated when they made me play sports in school cause I wasn't into them

message 34: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (theycallmebookworm) | 1955 comments What are you talk about?

It was 5O in Sydney one day but its cooler now

Yep I'm from Australia and I live in Sydney. Um... well I actually want to move... to London because it rains there and I don't like the heat that much... so I'm weird.

My dad just came back from England and bought me a Platform 9 3/4 shirt! :)

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

He went to Kings Cross to take a train to Doncaster I think *shrugs* and he got a photo at that trolley they have set up halfway through the wall

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Here in India there are a lot of festivals. Almost every month. Can be twice sometimes in a month XD lol

message 39: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Yeah there are a lot of festivals. In march there are two. One is considered marriage anniversary of a god (not so sure about the story) and the other is festival of colors we play with colors that day :)

message 40: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Yeah :)
You're from Australia right?

message 41: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Oh great.
You interested in cricket. Because India and New Zealand are kinda rivals there. I don't like that sport.

message 42: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Yeah. But I don't like the Indian cricketers. I don't know why but after every victory I feel like they didn't deserve to win. I really don't know why. I like other sports but not cricket at all.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't get cricket it really confuses me, all those people running around and getting grass stains on their shirts

message 44: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Yeah it is unfortunately . :(
That's great rugby is a nice sport.

message 45: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Athena . Yeah even I don't get it. Half of the time am confused what's going on and then I get bored. God knows y ppl are so obsessed here .

message 47: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Ok. I don't but I haven't been practicing any sport for such a long time :(

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

When I said same I was replying to you too Simmaron :)
I don't get most sports except swimming cos thats just, Dive in and get to the other side before everyone else

message 49: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 1119 comments Even I love swimming. That's the best sport. Horse back riding is also pretty cool. These are the only two sports which I love. :)

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)
