I think they were both not thinking clearly. Both wanted to thumb their noses at their respective mates and both knew it was a trap. It (and the scene later) felt like "I need to do this to make other stuff happen" but I didn't mind overly much since said stuff does need to happen! hah
As a person who has um not listened to established rules as suggested I can understand why they did it. They went into this with the best intentions, even though they knew what was coming up and that it was a track.
If I knew someone could be helped but there were dangers involved I would still do it. Anything in life isn't without risk and I can see what they did it.
I definitely wouldn't have called Talen I would have just been fuck it I will deal with the consequences later. Sometimes it is better to have to say sorry than ask for permission. This felt like they were doing the right thing and they followed through with it. I can see why he was pissed he cares about Cara and she deliberately put herself in the way of danger but at the same time it takes a strong and compassionate person to do that and that is trait you want in a mate.
