I like bittersweet endings, the give you a sort of closure. But at a price.

I hate it when the author decides that they don't want to give you closure, they want you to assume the role of figuring out what happens next. Personally I NEED closure at the end a book/series, that is basicly why I hate cliffhangers SO much! I am glad that bittersweet endings at least give you that closure.
Honestly I do mind if or if there isn't closure but I guess I'll get over it. I hate that feeling you get when you think back to that book/series and wonder what happened afterwards. That is what annoys me most.
I think it depends on how long the story is, for full-length novels and series, it's much harder to appreciate an open ending. I actually adore open endings when it comes to short stories and such. After all, life is a work in process, so I feel that open endings are closer to life than nicely wrapped-up ones(sort of in the same way with bittersweet over utterly happy endings). But I guess for anything that requires as much emotional investment as a novel, I would prefer to have at least some closure.
