Jack (jack_) If you don't mind me asking, why didn't you finish The Hobbit or Life of Pi? I ask because I'm going to read Life of Pi this month and don't want to be disappointed.

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 910 comments What do you mean by "good reader"?

message 3: by Jack (new)

Jack (jack_) Wait! I didn't read the end of the message. You're a great reader for eleven! Well done. :-)

message 4: by Jack (new)

Jack (jack_) Well, I wouldn't know if you're a strong reader as I don't personally know you but looks like you read a lot.

message 5: by Jack (new)

Jack (jack_) Yes. Eire, Eirinn. Ireland's great, well, except for the weather! Haha! :-)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 910 comments Ah, okay. Well, I can't really know your reading comprehension but I'm pretty sure you understand what you read or you wouldn't be reading it. So you're 11 and you read a mixture of children's, YA and adult's literature and enjoy doing so therefore I'd say straight away you're a good reader. Many kids don't even read at all and you're reading loads from many different genres. To me this means you're certainly a good reader. :)

Jack (jack_) I agree with you Lilac. Erin, are your parents Irish? If they are then tell them I said "Dia duit" and "Conas atá tú".

message 8: by Jack (new)

Jack (jack_) Yeah, even most of the people in Ireland are clueless as well. Hard language to grasp onto.

message 9: by Jack (new)

Jack (jack_) I might give it a look but I'm a bit busy with setting up my group Goodreads All Sorts, and I also have all my other groups to update on but I'll give it look when I get the time.

Sheryl_at_Ubookquitous (ubookquitous) | 377 comments Erin, I think it is great you love reading, and that you set goals for yourself. As an educator I work hard to get people to read and think about what they read.

Be warned, however..... Reading for entertainment often has a sneaky way of turning into learning! :-) Good writing makes us think and feel and it takes us to places and times we could never go on our own.

When I was your age I had adults who used to read the same books and I loved to talk about them. If you ever want a reading buddy for something let me know.

Jack (jack_) Hi bob!

Michelle (michellecharlotte) Hi Bob!

I hate it that the page numbers of my e-reader are different from the real books. I always calculate how far I am.

I think you're a great reader. I read a lot also when I was you're age, but my little brother (who has the same age as you) isn't really into it. I want him to read Percy Jackson books (I've read them myself), but he doesn't want it. It's such a shame, those are great books for people your age. And I understand why you didn't finish Life Of Pi, I did finish it but when he's at see it gets very boring at some parts. Nothing happens. It's one of my favorite books though. And the Hobbit has a long start, but once you've read through it it becomes really worth reading it. When I was your age I liked the Narnia series a lot. I'm now rereading them in English (I'm Dutch and it was too hard for me to read them in English back then), and they're still awesome!
