I have to admit I was surprised. It's one of those things that once you know what it is you look back and think 'oh, that makes sense' but don't see it comingI do like how it was handled, it makes me mother's fears and unnatural overprotectiveness seem much more realistic; and I love how the unicorn is like this little thing the size of a shetland. very cute

I didn't see that one coming, I admit. Honestly, I think if it hadn't been handled just right, I would have hated that choice, but somehow Thea Harrison wrote it in a way that I accepted the unicorn without an eye-roll.
