Christine, it's a quirky family in San Francisco that run a PI firm. I think there are 4 or 5 in the series now. She started out as a screenplay writer so she's great on the dialogue and witty repartee. I can't think of another single author to compare her to as she is unique...and I mean that as a complement. I thought they were hilarious!

I agree!

Jeanie Jackson Shelly Fredman, author of the series, No Such Thing as A... Similar to ever Evanovich but I like them better. The first one is No Such Thing As A Secret, in ebook and paperback. The ebook is $ .99. She has written 5 of the 6 books she has planned.

Laid Out and Candle Lit, by Ann Everret. My attachment to it may be in part to identifying with the small Texas town.

Dorothy Gilman author of the Mrs. Polifax books. She passed away early 2012 but their are quite a few books in the series.

Sorry I could not choose one, in fact, I love humor and I will probably think of 3 more funniest tonight before go to sleep.

Stef | 18 comments Hi everybody,
my name's Stef, I'm new to this group (in fact, fairly new to goodreads). I'm German and live in Germany, but hardly ever read a German book...
On the subject of this thread though: Tamar Myers always makes me laugh, Rhys Bowen's Royal Spyness series has me marking lines to read out to friends... so do lots of other authors. But the one single book I thought absolutely not readable on public transport due to tears of laughter running down my face is Dornford Yates' "Adele and Co" from his "Berry" series Adele And Co.: A Novel! If you can lay your hands on a copy, give it a go.
Happy reading, Stef

Sharon Toner (sharonburchtoner) | 6 comments I loved the Southern Sisters series by Anne George. Alas, she's no longer with us, but they are worth seeking out. Lots of out-loud laughing. Not sure which is the first book of the series, but all are wonderful. Can't go wrong. Try Murder on a Bad Hair Day!

Aaron Steinmetz (aaronsteinmetz) | 2 comments *ahem*Me*cough* Sorry, excuse me, must have a cold coming on.

Dave Barry's Big Trouble remains the funniest book I've ever read, but for consistent comedy (Tricky Business was a far cry from Big Trouble) I go to Christopher Moore or Janet Evanovich.
