Inspiration Room discussion

When you're at a standstill in a story and you don't know your character well enough to continue, free-write a conversation with them. Yes, you and the character. It's unbelievable what comes out - I've had "talks" with some of my characters that took completely unexpected turns and helped me decide what to do. And then part of the fun is looking back months later and laughing your head off...

(I did this a while ago for fun, so I thought I'd post it for everyone's amusement. Note: Cassie can control fire, if that makes any sense. )

Cassie: I hate you. I HATE YOU! WHY?!?!?

Paige: Look, I'm sorry, okay? IT HAD TO BE DONE!

Cassie: *grabs chainsaw* MWA HA HA! *revs to life*

Paige: *eyes widen* Cassie, put it down! NOW! *attempts to run*

Cassie: *uses magic power to surround her in a circle of fire* *approaches with chain saw* *mock seriousness* Sorry, Paige. It had to be done.

Paige: *gets scared* Come on, Cass. Don't do this. PLEASE DON'T DO THIS! NOOOO!

Cassie: *smirks* Mwa ha ha ha.

Paige: *in desperation* I'LL KILL DEVON!

Cassie: *pauses in pursuit of Paige* raises eyebrows* You wouldn't dare.

Paige: I would so! *gets out piece of paper and pencil* *writes* Devon will

Cassie: STOP! I'll let you go!

Paige: *breaths sigh of relief* Excellent. *fire dies down, chainsaw is turned off* *hands paper to Cassie* Here, all yours. *runs and hides in bomb cellar*

Cassie: *burns paper into ash* Hmph. I was foiled once, but not next time. MWA HA HA!

Yep. Tink most have done something terrible to her. Like killed someone, unveiled a deep secret, or turned her world into a dark and terrible place. Something like that. =)

LOL I'm just resurrecting her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend. *shushed them* Don't tell, though, okay?

Ouch. Poor girl.

R: Hello Jayd. How are you?

J: Fine, I guess. *looks at her fingernails*

R:So uh, you met up with Mark.

J:*stands up* I've got to go.

R:*uses magical writing abilities to tie Jayd to a
chair* NO! I'M TALKING TO YOU AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!

J: Alright, holy sh**, don't have to f****** bite my head off!

R: You will not swear in my presence Jayd. *writes down*

J: Sure as he...ck I won't.

R: :D

J: Fu..nky monkey chunks.

R: So, how's life?

J: Well, I just got arrested for drug use, got out a day ago, got myself all put together and slammed into someone who tried to cheat on his girlfriend with me.

R: But he broke up with her, right?

J: Yeah. But if he was unfaithful with her, what's gonna stop him from being unfaithful with me?

R: Bu you love him, don't you?

J: No. I don't. *deals with inner struggle and grimaces*

R: What about Dan?

J:*tries to stand up again* What about him?

R: Do you love him?

J: I'm going to tell you the same thing I told him.
No, I do not funky monkey love him, and I sure as heck will never. Oh my gosh, can't people just realize this?

R: *smiles at Jayd's attempt to swear* You're not telling the truth. You know Rose loves him like a father.

J: Uncle.

R: Whatever. And you know you love Rose, and want to do the best thing you can for her.

J: Everyone's telling me this. 'You want to do the best for Rose, don't you?' Well let me tell you: Rose is perfectly fine under my care, she doesn't need to go to a foster home or with her grandparents, and I'm perfectly content being a single mom.

R: Okay. Sorry.

Cassie: I know something you don't know...

Me: I know, I know. You keep telling me this. When are you going to just tell me when it is.

Cassie: I don't know... (<-in annoying voice)

Me: I'm the author! You only exist because you were irritating me so much that I had to write your story down!

Cassie: So? I'm in charge now!!!!

Me: Bite me. :/
