It already explain here : http://www.goodreads.com/librarian_ma....

If you create an alternative cover edition and we choose that as default - will all the comments and reviews automatically transfer over to that one?

So, to bella : as you can see, if you want to add new cover, please follow the guidelines mentioned in link :
http://www.goodreads.com/librarian_ma...
Thus it will be Alternate cover edition as Sandra said..

Once the editions are combined the reviews will appear on both editions. You then use the filter to see reviews per edition.

I'd be really grateful.

Would you mind creating the new edition and then combining them? here is the cover again: https://rapidshare.com/#!download|510...

Is it correct, Bella?
Let us know.. :)"
Thanks! - I think now the paperback needs to still be changed though. Because when i type "A Shade of Vampire" into the Goodreads search box - the old edition is the only one that shows up by default:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17...

use Make Default feature, to use this feature, go to the edition you wish to set as the default, and click the "edit" link. On the edition's edit page there will be a link on the right side, about mid-way down the page and just before the link to refresh stats, to "Set this book as the primary edition for this work".
for now, Goodreads Authors (and Goodreads Employees) are the only people who can use this feature, and they can only do so for books on which they are the primary author.
so Make it primary, and i'll get your paperback book with alternate cover ready.

I've uploaded the pic to my web album on picasa
here's the link
gotta dash now, once done i'll be taking this image off the web so.. update status of this task once it is done.. :)

Now the only thing left is to get the paperback book with cover ready. :)
Thanks

The new one is alternate cover edition. You can't change the already existing cover by delete it.

"You can't change the cover of your existing book. You need to create an alternate cover edition. You can then decide which book is your default one."
you already have alternate edition set-up. Now all you need to do is,
"use Make Default feature" which is explained in message 18.. if you will..

Thanks so much for your help!

No way to permanently remove?"
Technically, said isbn/asin or whatever serial number denotes the book had the older cover at some point in time, and may be someone in readers have this book so it would be unwise to remove that edition completely.. rather keep both the editions..
but yes, if you choose to, the book can be removed completely. i.e. earlier version.

This is a book cataloging site
Edit: Msg2 in this links provides info

Or are they tied together?"
They are being treated as two different versions/editions of the same book with same serial number with only difference of cover-art

It's not at all confusing,
for instance, take the example of Harry Potter
as of this time, it has close to 256 editions of same book :)
so the Concept is "Same book just different Edition"
later..

C.J. This is the way it's done at GR. Anne of Green Gables has 488 different editions of the same book. I don't think your readers will have any problems differentiating from one edition to another, it doesn't take a new member long to learn. You just check the publishing info inside the edition you have and then match it up to the edition in the GR database or, if GR don't already have that edition, create a new one with the correct information straight from the book. Sometimes the publisher or author, like you, puts out a new cover for an old edition. It wouldn't be fair for one set of readers who have the book with cover art A to suddenly be unable to have the correct record of the book they own because cover art B has replaced it. That's why they handle ALL the different editions of the same book in this way.
I tried changing it myself, but even though I applied and was approved for librarian status, the site still tells me I don't have permission to do it.
Thanks in advance
