Aliyah | 369 comments Hey, everyone. For some reason, I randomly Googled Jake Gyllenhaal, a while ago. I've never really paid much attention to his work, until now. I've watched Donnie Darko, but this was years ago (and I can't remember it). I do think he's got immense talent. And really, really sexy. What about the guy captivates you as a Gyllenhaalic?

Aliyah | 369 comments I'm surprised that this topic has left Felix speechless. Wow, Jake's charisma does things to people.

I dunno so much about Maggie, IMO she was OK-ish in Batman:TDK. Was MUCH better than Katie Holmes.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Her role in Batman was the last one on my mind... I can think of so many more of her movie roles I enjoyed - Secretary, Crazy Heart, Adaptation, Mona Lisa Smile, Paris, Je T'Aime... off the top of my head.

message 10: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Was Secretary the one she was in with James Spader?

I haven't seen any of those. Oh, wait. I think I saw Mona Lisa Smile.

::runs to IMDB::

Yep, I saw at least part of that one. Haven't seen any other Maggie movies. And the only Jake movie I've seen is "City Slickers."

Apparently that family doesn't star in movies that appeal to me. Oh well. Carry on.

Riona (rionafaith) | 488 comments I loved her in Secretary.

message 17: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I am for Jake in Donnie Darko and Maggie in Secretary.

message 18: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Jake was in City Slickers? What did he play, the calf?

In other news, I think he was great in Source Code and Brokeback Mountain. They're both excellent actors.

message 19: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments OMG! Where is my head?! He was excellent in Brokeback Mountain!

message 20: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I've loved Jake in just about everything he's done. He's very easy on the eyes (I'm sure I've posted it elsewhere in TC... he's in the manquarium, so MINE!).

I loved him in Brokeback Mountain so ferociously.

I'll bet he was one of Billy Crystal's kids, Pi.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments OMG! How cute was he as a kid?!!

Mmm I should definitely watch this before 2013 comes to an end. I remember Oprah interviewing him about BM, and show scenes where he cried his heart out. I was like 12 (or 13 at the time) when the film was out.Never seen quite an actor with such expression.

message 25: by Aliyah (new)

Aliyah | 369 comments To add on, the man was born in the wrong era, he should've been acting in Sinatra's time. Sure he's well respected as an actor, yet the media doesn't create much hype over him (like Ian Somerhalder-I can't stand him!).

Which is a good thing. But in this day and age, instant gratification fulfills people's meat heads. Which is why people don't really take note of this acting abilities. Not sure what he was thinking when he chose to act in: Love and Other Drugs and The Watch. Maybe he had to pay the rent or something.

And his choice of women is pathetic. Can't get why he found Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon and Kirsten Dunst appealing.

message 28: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments The words Gyllenhaal and -aholic collide in a manner that is not pleasing to my eyes and ears.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3598 comments Aliyah, much improvement in your way of expressing yourself between post #8(I dunno so much about Maggie, IMO she was OK-ish in Batman:TDK.
