Has anyone read the new Kingsolver novel?

I want to love it because the cover is pretty. And I love a few of her novels. But I'm having a hard time connecting with the character. Mostly because she is a mountain-version-of-the-trailor-park-young-mom.

Kristin Rahn-Tiemeyer (k_rahn) | 5 comments I haven't read it but it is on my list for the year...I agree, the cover is super pretty :) And I do love her writing. I am especially interested in the environmental aspect of the book, so it might be less of a let-down for me personally if I don't fall in love with the characters. She was on Fresh Air shortly after the book was released but I can't find the link to the interview...

Anahita (anahitak) | 2 comments You know, I had a really difficult time getting into "The Lacuna"... It's one of those where the story switches time periods/speakers/settings without warning. So if you're not in the mood, it can be quite involving and/or disappointing. It just didn't move fast enough for me to keep reading :( ...maybe I'll pick it up again later, but I suppose the lesson for me is that she's not an author I could pick up *any* book of, since her style tends to vary. In the meantime, I keep hunting down "Prodigal Summer" in every bookstore I go to ;)

I think that I need to really give it a go - but it still has to pick up if I am going to finish it... Damnit Barbara.
