Eli Adelholm (eliadelholm) Well, I thought I would share my reviews here too. In case anyone should be interested. I will probably only be sharing the reviews I am doing through this group, though, which is not so many, so far.

I review primarily High Fantasy. Check out my blog, Numinous Publications, for more information!

Eli Adelholm (eliadelholm) Review #1 - High Witch by Mona Hanna
High Witch (High Witch, #1) by Mona Hanna
I just finished reading this novella a moment ago as I write this and I am still feeling positively shaky.

When I found this novella on Goodreads it was listed under "paranormal", which is something that usually will make sure I never touch the book. Yet this is in its essence just a high fantasy novella with a heavy focus on the romance between the two main characters.

It can safely be said that this was a read that kept growing on me: I started out thinking this would be a two star read at best, then somehow along the way it convinced me that it was actually interesting enough to deserve three stars. By the time I reached the climax I knew I could give it no less than four stars just because of the way it affected me.

Eli Adelholm (eliadelholm) Review #2 - Myriad by Mona Hanna
Myriad (Prentor, #1) by Mona Hanna
Expectations is a strange thing. Sometimes the things you expect the most from rewards you poorest whilst other things you dared not expect anything from turns out to be surprisingly good.

Last week I reviewed another story by this author, namely her paranormal romance High Witch. It surprised me a lot, sneaking its way up to a four star rating, a more than impressive feat for a story that belongs to a genre I don't really like.

This novella which is more in the vein of High Fantasy had all the indicators of being much more to my taste than the first one. And yet it was not. This story had much more in it than the first one. And yet my impression of it does not reflect that. This story did not touch me at all; it left me cold and uncaring. A sadly unimpressive feat for a story meant to be tragic.

Eli Adelholm (eliadelholm) Review #3 - The Witches of Jericho by Sam Hammack
The Witches of Jericho (Edenwitch) by Sam Hammack
The Witches of Jericho is a charming debut fantasy novel. It is written in a simple but entertaining style that takes you safely from beginning to end. I especially likes how the author describes things by making picturesque comparisons:

"Toward the Sea every man, woman and child drifted each and every time they slumbered, like ghosts drawn to a graveyard." - (Kindle Locations 266-268)

"In those lives he always had a name. Yet whenever he awoke from the dream the name would always escape him like a puffy white cloud drifting off in a strong gust of wind." - (Kindle Locations 4795-4797)

Eli Adelholm (eliadelholm) Review #4 - Healer's Touch by Deb E. Howell
Healer's Touch by Deb E. Howell
This book was given to me by Kristell Ink in exchange for this review. My thanks to Sam who was the person I got in contact with.

When first I was made aware of the existence of this new novel, the author described it as “Fantasy with a twist of Steampunk (and a little romance).” Not what I would normally consider my cup of tea. However, there was something about it that intrigued me and drove me to plead Kristell Ink for a review copy – and what a pleasant surprise this read turned out to be!

Healer’s Touch is a mix of romance, steampunk and high fantasy done the right way and written in just the right kind of style. I have to say that this book has made me a fan of Deb E. Howell.

Thank you very much for your review. So glad it was a pleasant experience for you (phew!). I hope the rest are, too... I will have to carve out more reading time, if so.
