Yes, I am a big fan! :) By the way, I was thinking of making a Supernatural post too.I came into the show about a year ago...I always thought it looked interesting but the channel never came in and my internet connection was too slow. Then I got the first season on dvd and never looked back. Now I'm as up to date as you can get, but I haven't had the chance to watch last night's episode yet.
We could discuss the Chuck Shurley aka Carver Edlund Supernatural metafiction. ;)
Aw, I kinda miss Chuck! The new prophet is pretty cool, though. How did you like the new episode?
Don't think I can join in this discussion, I've been avidly avoiding spoilers =/My sister got me into Supernatural, we've watched the first series together and are halfway through the second. I think it's kind of silly, but fun and way too addictive.
agreed :) keep watching! the storyline will become much more involved.
I hope it gets more involved gradually, so I have time to adjust =DI think Supernatural would make a perfect comic book series. I hope one gets made one day.
I'm not caught up yet on this season yet but I'm really liking the Men of Letters story line so far.
I'm not caught up on the most current season either. I was introduced by a friend in college; I'd seen ads for it but thought it was a teeny bopper show. I'm so glad she turned me onto it! I'm only on the third season, but I find it amazing.
I'm a huge fan, after spending the past two years trying to catch up in starts and stops. I'm now completely caught-up, spending time on the fringes of fandom, and am dying for March 20th to hurry up and get here, so I can have a new (and awesome) episode.
It is a great show. It not just the storyline or demons shapeshifters, angels, etc. but also the wonderful humor what catches me. Sam and Dean's mimics and gestures are really good. This is one of my favorite scenes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6m6bp...
I can watch it like forever.
Just started watching it this weekend. I love Urban Fantasy and Being Human (UK) got too weird and angsty for me so I thought I'd finally see what the hubub's about. I just started the second season, but I'm really enjoying it, although it's a little ghost/posession centric (I thought the wendigo and Vanir and such were more interesting). Also, some episodes really did their homework research-wise, some not so much. I'm a mythology major so mythology fails drive me up a wall.
Just finished the most horrific episode ever, "Death's Door". Cried buckets.
Overall it's an amazing show, maybe my favorite. I plan to cosplay as fem!Castiel at my next con, along with two other friends doing gender-bent Sam and Dean too.
I love it so much. I've watched a season and a half of Doctor Who but I didn't like it very much (graphics and lame jokes) but Supernatural is such an amazing show, and in the beginning when they obviously didn't have much funding, they stuck with simple creatures that wouldn't look so cheesy. Now since it's like a super popular show, they pull off some great special effects. I was really surprised at the quality of the Laviathans. And Dean and Sam's banter is gold, like Senem pointed out. The show also lets you kind of collect yourself after a sad episode. Since I just finished Death's Door, I though I'd have a depressing follow-up episode, but it was fairly funny and made me smile through most of it, mostly because Dean was hanging out with a badass teenage girl.

Oh gosh, I can't even watch episodes near "Death's Door" because I'm reminded of what happens and it makes me sob. Just remembering parts of the episode, and being able to identify with some of the shit Bobby went through, well, it makes me cry. Safe to say, that episode makes me cry all of the time. You definitely have to post pics of your cosplay when you're done! I'd love to see it. :)
Yes! The graphics are amazing. I remember going from a Buffy marathon over to Supernatural out of curiosity and being stunned by how well they used their graphics (which includes NOT using them when it would be in their best interest to avoid it).
And I do like the silly/case-oriented/"filler" episodes. I agree, I like having a chance to breathe away from all of the sorrow and tension, and I also like being able to see glimpses of their more "normal" life, since they don't spend ALL of their time taking down the Big Bad/Apocalypse of the season and it's clear that they spend the rest of the time hunting and just being them (oh gosh, Bobby's last memory in "Death's Door" kills me every time).
=D I'm going to a Supernatural con in a couple of months with my sister. I'm going as Castiel and she's going as Crowley.I'd also love to see pictures of your cosplay. How much change do you need to make to the outfits to make them fem?
I'm finally caught up on my episodes! :)Death's Door and the surround episodes are so hard to think about now - well done but so sad to see a favorite character go. I was pleased to see Bobby reappear in the newest episode Taxi Driver.
I would love to go to a con, but none are really held near enough to me without making a serious drive...Hope you have a good time!

I planning to just get a more long-haired wig rather than a short one, along with getting a female-made trenchcoat, maybe a bit shorter. I can't decide if I want to do a business skirt or just stay with the pants he has, but I'm leaning towards a skirt at the moment. I also have to get blue eye contacts. But I'm already wearing contacts for my vision, so they'll have to also be prescription.
I'm excited about this one because my last cosplay was 150 bucks, and I have a big feeling this will be cheaper (and I'll be able to wear most of the cosplay after the con anyways).

I like the idea of a business skirt, and the longer wig. :) I'm with you Lauren, there aren't really any cons around where I live, either, and I was also super-pleased to see Bobby again.
Totally wish there was a con near me as well. I love your costume idea. I've seen the cast speak at Comic-Con several times. They were a lot of fun since they all had such great chemistry together. Was happy to see Bobby as well, though I'm wondering if we'll see him again since his spirit went to heaven. Maybe he'll come back as an angel? ;) THAT would be funny.

YOU GOT TICKETS TO COMIC-CON???!!!
Oh my God, you have NO IDEA how jealous of you I am! I tried getting tickets this year and the site crashed not two seconds later. I was so excited too. I actually went to my local comic-book store the other day and the shop manager told me he has two booths there, and that most comic-dealers have an entire black market of comic-con tickets going on.
Jesus, I would love to go SO bad. I think my only chance to meet the cast is to attend the Supernatural Convention in Chicago next year.

Since I just published a book that's superhero themed, I'm going to try for a Pro pass next year. Sadly, we're not going this year due to money being tight (we're on the East Coast). But I'm hoping to go next year. It is so much fun. Many like-minded people there, which I love. I'm sorry that you couldn't get tickets. That totally sucks. If I can get Pro status and a guest pass, maybe I can offer it up for next year.

Does anyone know of any comic conventions in Maryland? I don't want to travel all the way to San Diego just to go to the Comic-Con...
Marie Chantal wrote: "Does anyone know of any comic conventions in Maryland? I don't want to travel all the way to San Diego just to go to the Comic-Con..."I have no idea if there are some near Maryland.. but I hear you.
I believe that some of my really good friends are going to something like the Comic-con. For all I know they could actually be hiking all the way to the real thing. I want to go but there is no way that I can right now.
I never knew things like these existed! I thought only kids read comics. Could you let me know some good comics? I'd like to know what makes comics so interesting. Thanks.
Lit Bug, comics used to be targeted at children, but they now cater to more mature audiences, both in complexity and in content (sex, violence, etc).
I recommend any of the Batman titles, Persepolis, Maus, Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia, recent Thor comics, Elfquest, or Green Lantern/Green Arrow.
Here in India even children do not read comics now beyond the age of 5 or 7 maybe. Max. age is 10. Is there any online sample of comics targeted at adults? I'd like to read good comics. Also, am doing my Ph.D. on feminist cyberpunk and a lot of cyberpunk by the Japanese is in the anime/manga form, so I might even use it in my research. Let me know if there are any links to online comics, sci-fi or not. Thanks :)
You can get a lot of DC Comics and Marvel Comics online, but I don't get them that way so I'm not sure how exactly. Try doing an internet search for DC or Marvel, maybe? Or downloadable or online comics? I don't know how accessible comics are in India, but many of these titles are on Amazon and I know there is a Comic Con India. You can find them on Facebook. I've read some Indian comics (Spider-man India, Kali, and a few other comic adaptations of Hindu stories), but not much.
Thanks :) Interstingly, I never knew till you told me that Indian comics exist - in the mainstream, targeted at adults. Will try out your suggestions.

Also, the Baltimore Comic Con is fun. It's not huge like San Diego and the focus is mostly comics and not movies or tv shows.
Here in Michigan our biggest one is Youmacon, and technically it's an anime convention. But since it's the closest and most popular con its transformed into a slightly smaller version of comic-con. But we have no good panels.
Oh my god, that finale was beautiful. Best one yet.
Erin wrote: "Anyone else excited for the 200th episode?"200th episode was GREAT!
I found last seasons a bit boring but the 200th is a must-seen and so enjoyable.
(I have to admit that I cried when Carry On My Wayward, Son and when "the editor" appeared at the end of the episode :P)
This is the one show (also Lost Girl) that I would watch the whole thing over again. Can't wait for Season 11! I think it's going to be the final one though.
Coral wrote: "This is the one show (also Lost Girl) that I would watch the whole thing over again. Can't wait for Season 11! I think it's going to be the final one though."There's definitely going to be a season 12 woohoo! I love Lost Girl too, I'm rewatching it at the moment.
Supernatural is my favourite show on TV, I love how they're not afraid to have fun with the show, like the episode with the convention for Chucks books and the 200th episode. They really love their fans and show it as much as they can in the show. Which is really rare!

I know this isn't based on a book series (I think there are some paperbacks based on the show, though) so if this is too off topic (bookwise) I understand!
