it jumped into the air. missing her arrow. without hesitation she let loose, and shot it straight through the heart.
The wolf let out one last cry, before falling to the ground. Spades arrow was in the beasts shoulder blade. "There we go." Spade murmured, running down to it as she pulled out her emerald dagger.
((Sorry, had to leave unexpectedly))She scoffed. "If you think that was a good shot, you must have beetles in your brain." She removed the arrow in the wolfs shoulder blade, then took out Hawk's arrow.
((Okay))She laughed as well, but quickly went serious again as she gutted the beast with almost inhuman accuracy. Soon the pelt of the animal was in Spade's arms and The animal was all cleaned up.
Wind gusted over the mountains almost knocking her off Deaths horse. She reached forward and grabbed his shoulder to steady herself. She looked down and grinned at the beautiful sight.
Death took no notice of Hawk's hand. Instead, he focused on a small pair of hikers attempting to climb to one of the many mountain peaks. Death angled his horse towards them, and pulled out a single hourglass. By the look of the sand, at least one of the climbers had about five minutes left.
She looked at the climbers and saw Death pull out the hourglass. "Whet would you do if I tried saving one?"
Death looked horrified. I WOULD DO NOTHING. BUT IT WOULD CAUSE THE TEMPORARY DESTABILIZATION OF TIME AND SPACE IN THIS PART OF THE UNIVERSE. He commanded his horse to fly lower, towards the climbers, one of which was struggling to get up a particularly difficult ledge.
"Good thing it would be temporary" she squeezed his shoulder and jumped off the horse toward the climber while pulling out a sharp dagger from her belt. She stabbed the dagger in the rock and held on to it with one hand while helping the climber with the other till he was safe. She then looked over her shoulder and grinned at death.
Death looked at her very gravely, which is kind of ironic if you think about it. The hourglass, titled Gordan, was almost out of sand. NO-ONE CAN CHANGE FATE, he warned. NOT EVEN ME. Death's horse swooped lower, and rested on the ledge upon which Hawk and both climbers stood. The climbers took no notice of him. As he held Gordan's hourglass in his hand, the last grain slowly fell to the bottom. Nothing happened. "Thanks so much, Miss...?" Gordan exclaimed.
(Should we have Gordan become a semi-permanent character? Like, with a charrie description and everything?)
"Hawk. That's an unusual name. Um, where did you..." Gordan squinted at Death, still on his horse, then looked away. "...come from?" There was a bewildered look on his face. The other climber, a muscular man in his mid 30's, contrasted the 20 year old Gordan's rather undeveloped frame. He looked nervous, and kept peering over the edge where Gordan had previously been struggling.
She tried holding back a grin "I was close by and saw you struggling" she nudged deaths knee discreetly then looked at Gordan. "What's your name?"
"Gordan," said Gordan. "Gordan Silverton. And my friend over there," he looked at his companion, who was still studying the rocks below the ledge, "is Tom. Tom!" He called. "What's the matter, what's down there?" Either Tom had gone deaf in the last minute, or he wasn't paying attention.
She smiled "my name is really Rashelle Hawkins. That's how I got Hawk as my nickname." She walked over to Tom and moved him away from the ledge gently.
Tom let himself be pushed back, but he looked as though he didn't even notice Hawk. "I've... I've got to go..." he spoke to no-one in particular, and climbed down the mountain. "I wonder what's his problem?" Gordan stared after him. "Well, I don't really have anywhere to go to. Mind if I accompany you, Rashelle?" He looked at Death again. "And, remind me, how did you get here so fast?" he asked, still speaking to Hawk.
"There's a rather tall fellow..." He seemed uncertain, as if he was struggling with something, mentally. He rallied, and asked Death, "So who are you? Are you with Hawk?"I AM DEATH, AND YES, HAWK AND I ARE TRAVELING TOGETHER, FOR THE MOMENT.
"Well, that's an unusual name, eh? Bet a lot of people look at you funny when they hear that." Seemingly satisfied with the answer, he turned back to Hawk and asked, "So how did you um, how did you get here? I didn't see you climb up..."
Almost casually, Death pulled another hourglass from his robe, holding it so only he could see the label. TIME TO GO, he said to Hawk, and picked up the reigns."Wait, take me with you!" Gordan spluttered, and hopped on the horse. His brain finally admitted that there was, despite the fact that it had no way to get there, a horse on the side of a very steep cliff. There was no other way to plausibly explain what he was currently sitting on.
(Sorry about the delay)
(Its ok, sorry bout mine)Hawk swung onto the horse and tried pushing Gordan forward so she wasn't falling off, then wrapped an arm around his waist.
(Meh. I was all alone here until you came, so it's alright.)After a bit of coaxing, as Death's immortal horse wasn't used to carrying 3 people, it leapt off of the ledge and rose into the sky. I NEED TO CHECK SOMETHING. Death seemed a bit worried.
On the other hand, Gordan was quite pleased. It wasn't flying miles above the landscape on the back of a magical horse that made the corners of his mouth stretch to his ears, mostly because he didn't allow himself to notice that. "So, um, Hawk, where are you from?" he asked.
