Dare strode into the lab, his jaw clenched, his eyes set dead ahead instead of on the doctor that stood with an eager grin beside the table covered in different electronic devices. Curiosity filled him at the sight of the objects. He had his memory wiped after every visit there, so he had no idea what to expect. All he knew was it couldn't be good.
"What's up, Doc?" he asked monotonously, taking the seat a few feet away, already feeling familiarity with the situation. The doctor smiled, picking up a small chip from the table.
"Darius."
Dare grit his teeth, wrapping his hands around the arms of the chair. The doctor held the chip out to him and he couldn't help but frown. "It will all make sense in a moment. Just touch the chip."
Raising an eyebrow, Dare reached out, hesitantly brushing his fingers against the electronic item.
It was like a light switched on behind his eyes and Dare gasped, his hands tightening around the chair. It was like someone had poured a bucket of ice water over him as all the cold, uncensored memories rushed back to him.
He remembered everything, his family, his friends, his life before any of this had happened to him. He remembered every day leading up to this moment in the lab, every damn second of being locked up in this hell hole.
"I have a family," he gasped, running a hand through his hair. "God, I had a life." His mind was racing as he remembered how close he was with Oswin, with Marc, hell, with Kara! "I'm such a dick." He covered his face.
The doctor snickered, placing the chip into a small, metal box, locking it with a key that he dropped into the pocket of his lab coat.
"Yes, yes, now let's get to work. You waste more time every time we give you your memory back. We'll stop giving you everything if you keep stalling like this."
Dare's face contorted into an expression of pure rage.
"Stalling? How twisted are you? God, you're taking away my entire life and you think I'm the one being inconvenient?" he said, leaning forward in the chair, his hands clenched so tightly around the arm that it was hurting his tender flesh. The doctor tutted, picking up a syringe and flicking it methodically. "Well, I'll show you inconvenience." Dare started to stand.
"Every single time." Before Dare could react, he dug the needle into his arm, pushing down on the top. The sludge entered his system. He collapsed back into the chair, his hands trembling, his head clouding a little. "You'd think you'd learn, Darius."

Dare's head pounded and his muscles ached as if he'd just run a marathon.
"S-stop!" he managed to say through clenched teeth. His stomach churned and he felt like he might be sick. Sweat covered his body and his clothes and hair clung to his skin. The doctor had been shoving all different kinds of technology at him, forcing him to memorize how each and every one of them worked almost simultaneously. It felt like his head might explode.
"Alright," the doctor said nonchalantly, placing the last electronic on the table. Dare let out a heavy breath, slumping in the chair. Before he could truly relax, the doctor yanked on the back of his hair, forcing him to sit straighter in the chair. He wrapped his fingers around the back of Dare's neck, and his world turned to black.

"Ah. There they are." Jack and Ari huddled close together, watching the scientists run around like ants. "What are we doing today?"
"We thought we'd try something a bit different. Come sit."
They were led to a pair of reclining chairs with restraints on them.
"Sit."
Arden climbed onto the one on the right, next to the table, staring worriedly at her brother. They were both strapped to the chairs.
Jackie... I'm scared... Arden shook slightly as the scientists stuck a few wires to her skin.
"Now, what we want to know is... Can you feel one another's pain?"
The click of a switch being flipped caught Jack's attention. And then there was screaming.
Arden's back arched away from the chair, electricity coursing over her skin and through her body. Her mouth was open, horrifying cries of agony passing her lips.
Jack's eyes clenched shut.
Jackie...! JACK! The machine shut off. Arden's back hit the chair, chest heaving with the effort it took to breathe.
"Hmm... I suppose not... Maybe a higher level setting..?"
Click.
Wailing ripped from Arden's throat as Jack began to struggle. "Stop it! You're hurting her!"
The scientist looked at him oddly. "How do you know? You can't feel it."
"Just stop!" Jack pleaded. The machine powered down and Arden was whimpering, panting in her chair again.
"I suppose you may go."
They were unstrapped and Arden stumbled toward Jack, skin slightly singed.
Ari. Are you okay? Can you walk?
Yes, I can walk.
A glint of light from the floor caught her eye. It looked like a chip...? She stooped to pick it up, quickly pocketing it.
"Come on, Ari." Jack hissed. They hurried out of the lab together.
"I told you motherfu--"
Before Crimson could finish telling off the multiple scientists in the lab, the meaty palm of some guard covered her mouth and silenced her. She flailed around in his arms but with little success. The monster was five-times her size.
He finally sat her in some rusty, metal chair in what could have been a fucking volcano for all she knew. It was no doubt over a hundred degrees. Crimson wouldn't allow herself to panic, she was smarter than that. She had to stay somewhat alert if she wanted to figure a way out of here.
As soon as he let go of her, she didn't waste a second popping backup but the metal restraints were faster and immediately wrapped tight around her forearms and ankles just as quickly. There was no way she could combust metal so she ceased her fussing but not her mouth. "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!"
"Now now, calm down." A man with a grave voice from behind her answered,"We can't have you getting worn out."
Crimson could hear the shuffling of footsteps and the clinking of tubes going on behind her but didn't dare turn a look. She stared straight at the wall and made herself not look at the 10-foot structure right across from her that was covered in a green cloth. Crimson saw someone approach from behind but didn't look up. She did her best to maintain her self-composure. She refused to give into them.
"You having fun back there?" Crimson tried to keep it casual but her teeth were gritted.
"Not as much as you and your friends this evening." The doctor,a woman, shot back.
They knew.
"Inject her." The doctor with the gravely ordered.
Before Crimson could react, a giant needle was roughly pierced into her forearm and she didnt even try to hold back her cry of pain.

Crimson could faintly hear Grant's voice through the sealed hermactically sealed door but didn't respond. What was he even doing here? The doctors apparently weren't aware of him and if they were, they gave payed absolutely no attention.
She could actually feel her heart rate beginning to rise and even her breathing were coming in short little pants,"Wh...what....did you....d-do."
The doctor responded immediately, as if nothing were wrong,"Doctor Jones injected you with Epinephrine also known as adrenaline. By stimulating your heart-rate, it will assist in prolonging your stamina for combustion."
Crimson's mind was racing and she felt like she was going to crash at any second.
"Bring out the test subject."
The 10-foot case she'd been avoiding eye contact with was now pushed into full view. She had little time to process what could be inside it when one of the doctors pulled the cloth off. A wave of nausea hit her and she had to swallow down the vomit,"I-Is...that--"
"A human test subject?" The doctor interjected,"Yes it is. I trust you can stomach it."

Crimson jumped a bit at the sound of Grant's voice but knew it was just the sound waves,"Go....away..." We're the only two words she could get out. She could barely even talk at this point. She could only hope that he would get out of here but more so for her pride. She didn't need to be saved.
"Tune the boy out. There's no way to get inside now focus." The impatience in the doctors voice was evident. And the fact that they were doing nothing about Grant, that they were in complete confident he wouldn't get in, made her anxious. She hated the vulnerability they put her under, it was maddening. Even worse, the human they brought in didn't even look like she was dead a day.
"Turn it up." Crimson felt her heart-rate increase even more and her chest was heaving. They were pumping more adrenaline and she could feel the sweat beading down her forehead now. "Now unless you want your heart to give out, I suggest you do as told. Now."

"Get the boy." Someone snapped and she thought she heard large footsteps moving towards the door but the ringing in her head was too prominent as was the 'focus' that was constantly echoing in her ears. Crimson stopped fighting it and all she had to do was follow instructions. Just like any test day. That's all it was...a test. Right? She didn't dwell on it. She looked up at the dead body of the woman. Her eyes were still wide open...glassy. Crimson shook off another wave of nausea and did what she was told. Focus. The eyes were the easiest part anyway.
"Grant!" Kara was running wildly towards the man, some terror showing in her pale eyes. "Where is Crimson? Oh. You don't look so good. Oswin said to get you—What are you doing?? We have to go!"
Kara stepped obediently behind Grant. Something strange happened to one of the guards, and she got the sense that this was not part of Grant or Crimson's session... ((I keep posting at the same time as someone else. It is decidedly inconvenient.)) Marc said something to her, and Kara gave a nod, only partially understanding. She quickly found the remote signal that was sounding the alarms, and cut the signal. Using her fingers, she twisted another signal, and the red lights turned off.
Crimson could barely register what was going on around her. Her vision was completely filled with swirls and their was an insistant pounding in her head. However, she knew that somehow Grant had gotten through the door and now she was going to have to owe the damn bastard,"Get it...out..." Crimson panted, referring to the needle still pierced into her skin.
Dare rushed into the room, Oswin to his side, the others not far behind. He came to a halt, skidding a little across the tile floor. "Kara!"
Kara gasped and fell to the ground, backing herself up against a wall. She closed her eyes and covered her face with her hands. There was so much noise, everywhere, and all the signals were screaming in her face, screaming without her say-so.
Crimson tries her best to control her breathing as the commotion was going on. She had to stay as fully alert as she could manage. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed one of guards going after someone....Kara? Crimson gathered up the pissed-off energy she could manage and tried to focus on the guard's head. She gritted her teeth and tried to manipulate the molecules. She could faintly see through her blurred vision his body start to convulse. Crimson shut her eyes right before she could hear the sound of his brain exploding.
Dare ran towards Kara, an instinct to take care of her taking over. Without hesitation he scooped her up in his arms, carrying her towards the exit of the lab.
Kara sobbed into Dare's shoulder, hopelessly overwhelmed by the chaos surrounding her. The signals, not just from their building, but anything within a five mile radius, shouted at her, open in her mind, demanding her attention.
"Jack!" Arden called. Jack nodded at her and they linked hands. The chair straps burst open and they sagged against each other.
"It does, doesn't it?" Jack panted slightly, trying to support a weakened Arden and himself. "We're fine Ozzy."
"Are you okay?" Dare murmured. Kara was crying now and guilt flooded through him as if it were his fault.
Dare turned, jumping back as the guard swung at him. He really didn't think now was the time to put Kara down but he was pretty defenseless while holding her.
Jack covered Arden's eyes, glancing pointedly at Marc."Quit being stupid." She tore her head away, glaring at her brother.
Crimson gave Grant a look that hopefully told him he was dumb as hell to ask that question. She lifted her arm, which took more out of her than she thought, and pulled the needle out of her arm. Her breathing was still heavy but she immediately felt her racing heart go down.
With his arms free, Dare kicked the guard in the stomach and watched him stumble away. Next, he grabbed the back of the guards shirt and hurled him against the wall, his head colliding with the surface. The guard slumped to the ground, unconscious. Dare breathed, "Wasn't that fun?"
Crimson glared at Grant but didn't try and fight him on this. She was completely worn out anyway and needed the help, although she would never admit it.
Dare ran to the door at the back of the lab, placing his hand on the electronic lock, glancing back at Oswin with a grin on his face. "Of course I can." And so he did, swinging the door open to reveal a stairwell.
"Looks like we've gotta go up from here," Dare said, leaning into the stairwell to see steps only leading in that direction.
Kara stumbled after Oswin, not understanding what was going on. She tried to shut off some of the signals flashing pictures and sounds at her, with limited success. She frowned, and blinked, trying to clear her vision enough to see where they were going.

Crimson climbed out the cot, clothes in hand. She was smiling as she walked towards the door and quickly called behind her as she walked out,"Hope your wife is doing well." She could practically feel his glare on her, daggering at her back as she walked out. She loved it.
