The Narthex discussion

I hope it is OK that I posted a new topic.

Since Julia Fleming-Spencer seems disinclined to fill my voracious hunger for Clare & Russ with as much promptitude as I would like, I'm looking for some other mystery series to fill the void.

I have read some of the Inspector Gamache series, and, to tell the truth, I'm not all that enamored of them. Plus, I think they are grossly overpriced.

I have read all of the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths & really liked them (once I got past the whole present tense weirdness).

What other series is everyone reading in between books? I could really use some suggestions.

This is a great topic! I've been wanting a similar series to R/C as well. Though, of course the downside is that we only have six members and we're the most active. =/

One resource you can use is Criminal Element. It's actually the St. Martin/Minotaur blog but they discuss all kinds of mystery books (TV, movies, and other randomness) and give recs. There was a series of posts not too long ago discussing favorite clergy sleuths. This one talks about mystery series with romantic elements.

And, yes, JSF has DISAPPEARED! There's been nothing on her twitter, FB, website, or blog since like September. It's worrying.
