Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I had my first experience with kombucha this past week. It tastes how I'd imagine an apple cider seltzer would taste. Frankly, I thought it was rather refreshing. I plan to start drinking it at least once a week.

I knew it was a controversial sort of food stuff, though, when I got it, and I just couldn't remember why until I looked it up on the internet. Some folks boast that it has great health benefits. Others think it's harmful and should not be consumed. I imagine those folks are the same people who will never taste sushi, even the veggie roll variety, just because it's "sushi."

Do you have an opinion on this? Have you ever tried kombucha? Would you try it?

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Misha, I have NO doubt that it did a cleanse on me... all damn day long the next day. I feel so much relief, too... much less bloated than I've been feeling lately. That's all I'll say about that. :)

Now with that said, I don't expect it to do much more than anything other probiotics are reputed to do for a person. No way in hell will I ever try some home-brewed stuff - this is something I'd gladly leave to the experts.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments TawNub, I got a GT's green kombucha. It looked like and tasted a bit like a dark green tea with a splash of apple cider vinegar and seltzer, ma'am. Like I said, I found it to be refreshing. I've been sick with "a bug that acts like the flu, but isn't the flu" (what the doc called it... on two occasions) for a month and a half now and I felt like I needed something like this to, I dunno, help me flush out toxins. I also love most everything you posted on your list of fermented food and drinks - perhaps there's good reason I'm craving it?
