What kind of coffee do you have at home? Is it always the same, or do you try different things? And do you have any to recommend?
I love coffee. I recently bought a pound of some holiday thing they had at Starbuck's...mostly because it was really cheap (after holidays). $4 for a pound. It's drinkable, but I just got some coffee the other day from a cafe - and it was so much better. I don't mind buying some expensive stuff every now and then, but mostly I would like to keep the cost below $10 pound.

I love Stumptown Coffee, but they are now $14 or more, so I rarely buy it. But I do recommend it, if you are splurging.

Linda Maxson | 14 comments I'm amazed at how different coffee tastes. And I don't think it's just the French Press either. (Tho' that is a sure fire way to go thru a lot of coffee fast, dammit!)

I don't love my Starbucks coffee, either. I think the cheapo stuff at Trader Joe's is better.

I have stopped for coffee twice now at Herkimer Cafe 5611 University Way NE. It is really really good. The beans are pricey - they range from $11 to $15 for 3/4 lb. I didn't buy any. But man, good coffee.

Barbara Ethel | 19 comments This article (see link below) was in the NY Times yesterday and made me think of our discussion.

I recently tried a new coffee from Zoka's but am unhappy. I'm trying to learn about this. Zoka's used the words: plum and citrus to describe the coffee I bought. Now I know to try to avoid those. I continue to be on the search for something new. Have to finish this one and will then try something from new find -- Herkimer's on University Ave.

I don't know Zoka's coffee, so I looked at their website. It is not user friendly, so that is one strike against them. And of course, the biggest strike -- Barbara doesn't like the coffee!! What is it that you don't like? Bitter, boring, weird, acidy? I tried some Ethiopian drip from Herkimer's the other day. It was good. But honestly, I think it is their espresso roast that is so delicious. You should get an Americano, and see what you think.
