Do you only read books about Richard III? If not, maybe you would enjoy this one - it sounds good to me. I'd love to join in the group read, but I am tied up with King John in Wales - Here Be Dragons. Canterbury Papers will be joining my TBR list. But, I see here on GR that some people hated it. The reviews on B&N seemed favorable with only one person calling it "boring." If you all deem it a stinker - don't worry - no bad feelings. I am made of tougher material than that.

Would anyone consider non-fiction? In another thread, I brought up one of my favorite books about RIII--"Royal Blood: Richard III and the Mystery of the Princes" by Bertram Fields. Fields is a lawyer and he produced a defense for Richard that essentially says there is no contemporary evidence/writing to support that a crime was committed and challenges the veracity of the forensic evidence--the putative bones (of the princes) that were found in 1674.

That would be both interesting and exciting. When I read Fields no one else seemed to have bothered with it and I was left with a mass of bottled up information I was hungry to share with an indifferent world. You have my vote.

I'm willing to get it back out from the library and give it another go.

I stole my mother's copy of Fields so I'm equipped to give it a go if it's what everyone wants.

I'll start a thread for people to come back to in a couple of weeks once we've had the chance to read (or re-read in my case) Fields' book.

I would like to join you in reading Royal Blood but it will take me 4 weeks until I get it...

I didn't realize that the group read has a time limit. I will ask the moderator if that topic can be extended a month, or barring that, removed and then put back a month from now. That will give everyone who is interested a chance to obtain a copy.

Joan, we're pretty open here - I can extend the time as long as we want. I've got it on hold at the library but I really do have a few books ahead of it.

We can break up the discussions like they do at European Royalty if everyone wants or wait until we're all finished.

and there is Du Maurier, Victorians group and so on... we need a day which has more than 24 hours to read all the books we want!!

I just sent you a message, Misfit. Maybe it would be better to remove it for now and then add it back the beginning of May?

My suggestion is to keep it but give us a longer period to read it.

I'm not sure how well that would work if we discuss the book chapter (or groups of chapters) by chapter. You, and others who don't currently have access to the book will end up joining after we've covered material that you might want to comment on. If we discuss the book as a whole, choosing topics more or less randomly, then your suggestion would work perfectly.

I'll leave it up to you all as to how you'd prefer to tackle this book. I'm happy either way.
