FINALLY I have an appropriate room to vent this particular hatred! I just completed reading
Anthony freakin' Rawlings is the most scheming, manipulative, pond scum, scavenging, kicked-repeatedly-in-the-nuts-worthy, asshole-ish, sadistic, two-faced bastard I have ever come across!! I hate him! I hate him! I hate him! My hatred for him will forever burn like the ner tamid in a Jewish temple!!! Phew!! Glad I got that out! Thanks for therapy Clarifina!!
Anthony Rawlings... easily!! Despite partially redeeming himself in Truth, his actions in Consenquenses were unforgetable to put it mildly!!Close second for me the cast from the Bet Series by Francette Phal. Evil masreminds, screw-ups and bastards, they drove me to therapy!

Hahaha, Georgia and Terry, I so agree with you! Totally hate Tony in Consequences!!! He made me almost love him in Truth though. But i still loved both books. Can't wait for Convicted.
I hated, hated, HATED Deuce for most part of the book.

And Clarifina, I couldn't help but like Caleb at the end of STID either... :))
Another protagonist I really HATED (and it's not a guy but still an awful person anyway) was Carol from Reason to Breathe, gosh I really hated that woman and how she treated Emma...
Soraya, I absolutely hated Jeremy from
so much! He not only crossed, but leaped over every limit she put in place.Evil, nasty man without a single redeemable quality....give me Tony or Caleb any day over him!
Maybe I'm a little screwed up lol but I loved Deuce from Undeniable and Caleb from SITD and CITD... Hated Tony in Consequences, but he grew on me in Truth... Didn't care for Jeremy in Comfort Object either.

Lol, Ikr? I liked Deuce by the end even though he was absolutely horrid for most of Undeniable.

Amy Elliott Dunne, GONE GIRL. I didn't like Nick Dunne much either, but she was just so utterly without a moral code that I ALMOST understood Nick's emotional withdrawal from the marriage. ALMOST.
I can't stand Keira from ThoughtlessKellan makes that whole story. I think she's a whiny bitch...
But I want to read about how amazing Kellan is so keep going back for more LOL

I feel the same way! LOVE Kellan!
Wow, I can't decide if this discussion topic is a brilliant idea or a mood killer, because now I don't know if I want to read Consequences and Undeniable anymore.
Sometimes it's fun to hate a protagonist, to root against him or her, and to hope the supporting characters (or the antagonist) come out on the winning side. I enjoyed GONE GIRL even though I hate Amy.
Amaryllis wrote: "Wow, I can't decide if this discussion topic is a brilliant idea or a mood killer, because now I don't know if I want to read Consequences and Undeniable anymore."Both of those books are must reads. Plus I'm sure for everyone who hates Tony or Deuce, there's 2 more people who see something else in them entirely. :)
I never have read Gone Girl. I'm on hold my libraries digital site. Did you like it Jennifer?
Very much.
The first 1/3 is slow, seductive (not the material, the pace) and maddening. Only when you read the whole book do you understand why. There is a mind-blowing turn, and then events start to race past you at break-neck speed. The first part draws you in, sets a scene; the rest of the book turns the scene upside down and makes you re-evaluate your assumptions.
Some will say this book is predictable. I didn't think it was. There's a point where you sit up straight and say, "WTF was that?" It's delicious.
Sorry for the endless explanation, LOL!

Yes, actually, what I'm going to do is brace myself for heartbreak (if the hero is one I'm going to hate, he'll likely break my heart too), and hope that said hero will know when and how to start making amends.
As Jennifer said, hating a protagonist can be fun, but only if, as the story goes, you gain reasons to love him too.
Anyway, I'm too curious (too weak, really) to resist arrogant jerks with a hidden soft side :P

Thank you! It sounds really good when you put all that way and actually, as I'm typing this, I see that I have an email from my library....I'm guessing it's for this book.
I think I keep holding it off only because I have SO many books on my TBR list it's hard to choose one!
I haven't read On the Island, or Wounded, or EIT, or The Vincent Boys, or Ruining Me, or, or, or.........
I have the same problem. So many books waiting to be enjoyed, so little time...
I have more free time than most (no spouse, no kids, a job with some downtime) but still, one has to sleep.

Yeah, but at most, I sleep for about 3-4 hours a day.

Yeah, but at most, I sleep for about 3-4 hours a day.
I've tried that. I'm impatient by nature. Without sleep, I'm a nightmare :P - fortunately, I rarely have difficulty sleeping.
Oh my, 3-4 hours a day of sleep and everyone would hate me. I am not pleasant when I'm tired! Nor am I particularly useful. O.oI work 3rd shift and have quite a bit of down time too. That's my reading time!
its Deuce from
, yes he's bad, he's Alpha he's hot:/ but I was turned off on what his doing ugh!:) and I super hate Caleb & Olivia in
they ruined my favorite Caleb & Livvie characters from Dark Duet!:)
Mine is without a doubt Anthony Freaking Rawlings! Hated that man with a passion!Isn't it crazy how when you read threads like this for most hated hero or most hated book, they peak your interest and you just gotta read about this man many people hate, lol
That's why I rarely pay attention to stars in a review. I evaluate comments very carefully as well. Sometimes you just never know what makes a particular book (or movie, or show, or song) "click" for you when it hasn't for others. The reverse is also true.
and then again, I'm gonna diss fifty shades of grey... Okay FIRST. Anastasia is the most retarded and naive character i've ever read (cuz its in a book) EVER. Who would sign that stupid contract that Christian gave to him. The whole story was retarded... SECOND. The annoying and depressing character from confessions of a shopaholic. ugh she makes me feel extremely depressed with her debts and lies. But if you don't take the book seriously, it's quite a fun read cuz there's a bit of her in you (Rebecca Bloomwood FYI) But seriously, she was retarded and depressing.
I've never read any of the above stories (since work is overwhelming) so I can't really name a horrible and cruel protagonist.
How about the mother and grandmother from Flowers in the Attic?! Now THERE are 2 woman I'd like to get me hands on. Horrible, nasty, self serving characters
Rachael wrote: "Jack from Avoiding Commitment and Avoiding Responsibility! He made me want to scream!"I forgot about him! I hated him so much! BUT, I got one didn't like Lexi one bit either.
Kristin wrote: "Rachael wrote: "Jack from Avoiding Commitment and Avoiding Responsibility! He made me want to scream!"I forgot about him! I hated him so much! BUT, I got one didn't like Lexi one bit either."
Yeah...she didn't exactly make the best decisions..I got pretty irritated with her too!
Oh dude, this one is easy.
Lexi is the dumbest, trashiest, most self absorbed, insecure character I've ever wasted my time reading about.
Haven't read The Tied Man, but I will say Jack & Lexi from 'Avoiding Series' have to be my most hated. He was a total douche and never have I wanted to smack a bitch as bad as I did her!
OH EM EFF GEE Just finished Consequences and I'm am in a total shock! My head hurts my brain is fried and I am seriously considering...no not considering I AM GOING TO MURDER TONY RAWLINGS...! Gaaahhh I hate him sooo much...!! Ok there's my rant for the day lol
