So it seems like the market is full of vampire and zombie stories. But I don't see that many werewolf stories. I love werewolves too, so I was looking for a good werewolf story. I read this... The Wolf Gift by Anne Rice ..and it was crap. Sorry to say it, but it's not that good. Don't get me wrong, I think Anne Rice is a great writer, but that was just such a disappointment. I also read this... The Mammoth Book of Wolf Men by Stephen Jones ..it was okay. I also bought these... The Wolfman by Jonathan Maberry Curse of the Full Moon A Werewolf Anthology by James Lowder . Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good books about werewolves?

Hey, Dan. I've noticed that anthology -- Curse of the Full Moon -- in bookstores and have thought about it for a while, but I haven't jumped on it yet. You'll have to let me know what you think. In the meantime, I will shamelessly offer up my brief, very traditional werewolf story, RUTH DE LUNE, as a possibility (see link at the bottom). I've read Rice's novel and agree entirely with your assessment. One of my readers said of RUTH, in fact, "It beats the s*#t out of THE WOLF GIFT." Which I took as the best blurb one could hope for! Good luck in finding a good read.

Hey thanks, Andy. I really appreciate it. I'll read your story and let you know what I think. Yes, I haven't read Curse of the Full Moon yet, but I was flipping through it a little and it looks very good. I do love short stories and if they are about werewolves that is awesome. I honestly don't know what happened with The Wolf Gift. I've read Rice's Vampire Chronicles and they were great. You would think she'd be good with werewolves. I'll check out RUTH DE LUNE and let you know what I think. Thanks again!

Cool, man. Be sure to rate me and review me on Amazon when you do! What's the word on WOLF MEN, by the way?

J.M. Rankin (jmrankin) | 31 comments Hi Dan,
I can recommend Maneater and Prey by Thomas Emson, published a few years back but good werewolf thrillers :)

J.L. Benet | 1 comments I know I'm biased, but I think you might enjoy the novel Wolf Hunter. It's available in both print (Amazon) and eBook (Amazon, Smashwords, iTunes Store, B&N).

Mercedes (mudmule99) | 19 comments Hi there - I've wrote a couple books about werewolves, though they are very raw and violent and gorey: Vengeance of the Werewolf by Mercedes Ludill and Life After (Werewolf Domination #1) by Mercedes Ludill both by Mercedes Ludill.
For ones I've read and loved: Master of the Hunt A Werewolf Novel by Nickel Crow , Tamed by Douglas R. Brown , Wolf Hunt by Jeff Strand , Order of the Wolf by Shawn W. Salzman , Wolfsbane by William W. Johnstone

I would have to highly recommend the Bane County series. Very scary stuff boys and girls. The finale comes out next year. 1 through 4 are available at Amazon. I hope this was not a shameless plug?

Kano Barlowe | 1 comments Not to self-promo really obnoxiously but I just released a werewolf novella. It's a bit on the drama side of horror and was inspired by a lot of old country gothic vibes. It's called Brim's Bane!
