(Elizabeth, Sir Lucas and Maria go to Hunsford and they meet Lady Catherine. Darcy arrives at Rosings Park and Elizabeth and Darcy seem to meet every now and then...Fitzwilliam informs Elizabeth of Darcy's interference in Bingley's marriage to Jane.)

LadyDisdain Ah, this is when Lizzy really annoys me. When Mrs. Gardiner questions Wickham trailing after Miss King, Lizzy says "Pray, my dear aunt, what is the difference in matrimonial affairs, between the mercenary and the prudent motive? Where does discretion end, and avarice begin? Last Christmas you were afraid of his marrying me, because it would be imprudent; and now, because he is trying to get a girl with only ten thousand pounds, you want to find out that he is mercenary."

LOOK AT WHAT YOU'RE SAYING LIZZY!!! And then go and reconsider Charlott'e situation. SIGH. Ok, I'm good. It just gets me really worked up.

I love particularly love this section, because for all Collins' insistence that Lady Catherine is this great, noble, genteel lady, and for all the Lucas's constant reverence of her, it turns out she is as vulgar as Mrs. Bennet!! The only difference is she has more money to throw around and therefore more respect to expect. All of which, of course, Austen is pretty much laughing at.

They're also similar in that they'd do anything to secure their daughters' futures - Mrs. B with all her matchmaking, and Lady C with traveling halfway across the country to put a stop to rumors.

I would love love love to hear her statements on Lizzy's and Darcy's wedding :D

I am with you about Lizzy, she needs to think about what she is saying!

And I completely agree about Lacy Catherine - it is so true!It is because she has more money!!

They are indeed both match-making mamas!! And i love imagining what Lady C had to say about it!! haha
