Hello Everyone. I am really happy to see such active users on this group and lots of great contributions to our discussion board. With that being said, since we have a lot of great discussions going on it may be time to organize our discussion board into folders for fellow members to find discussions easier. I was thinking of 4-5 folders. Anyone have any suggestions to make our page a bit more streamline?

I was thinking 1) Books Recommendations/Reviews 2) Washington to Lincoln 3) Johnson to Roosevelt 4) Taft to Kennedy 5) LBJ to Obama 6)General Discussion

Or should we have individual folders for each President (will that be too much?)

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Donny

Lisa | 32 comments Hi Donny,

I think a folder on each President might be a bit much. How about a folder for the "big" President's like Washington, Adams, Kennedy, etc. The others like Wm Harrison, Polk, Pierce, etc could be combined in groups of 3-4. Just a thought.
Can a folder be made within a folder? If so, have a recommendation folder within each President folder.

Lisa

Reed | 6 comments I prefer them in chronological order. That's the historian in me.

Reed | 6 comments And by chronological, I mean to support what Danny suggested before. The big presidents idea, while helpful, would probably naturally work it's way out. The ones that end up with most comments will probably stand out.

Jennifer | 5 comments Donny, I agree that a folder for each president is too much and I like your presidential group breakdown. If you can do sub folders, I feel that book recommendations would fall best within their associated group. I'm reading the presidents sequentially, but also read books of interest within the same time period (i.e., Benjamin Feanklin, Ethan Allen, Undaunted Courage, etc) and am sure I'm not the only person doing so. Could there be an "Other Historical Persons/Events of Interest" folder?

Amy Loewen | 2 comments I too would like a folder for what I call the "sidetrack" books...those books about the Presidents era on related subjects...i.e Hamilton for George Washington, The Hemmings for Thomas Jefferson

Jason Chambers I like the way you've broken up the eras Donny. I think that'd be a great way to set up the folders, plus the "reviews/recs" and "general discussion folders." Great idea.

Jason Chambers Just to complicate things (not really, but kind of....) here's another suggestion for eras in which to separate the folders for discussion:

Early Republic, Jacksonian Democracy, Sectional Conflict, Gilded Age, Progressive Era, Depression & World Conflict, Social Change & Soviet Relations, Globalization

Thank you everyone for their input. I went with the broke down the folders into an easy to understand format. SideTrack books are books that not about a particular President, but an event and/or person in their lives. General discussion can be anything besides books. If anyone has any questions, please let me know. Hope this make our discussion board easier to follow. Thanks everyone and keep up the great content. Btw, we are 95 group members - 5 more and we will be at 100!
