This is where you get to roleplay the apocalypse. Please read the group description for the backstory.

The Overseer smiled to himself as he walked up to the podium at the village center. He gazed in pride over all of the tents in the village, all containing people-- hard-working citizens who would surely assist him in any task he required. "I made this," he said to himself quietly, smirking as all of the usual hubbub that happened in the space between the tents died down.

All eyes were now upon The Overseer, as he gave his weekly address to the people. He pulled out a small stone slab that had many different values carved into it, and began to recite it. "I would like to thank all of you, for bringing in all of these resources. We found more water, stone, and animals than ever before! We got a total of 10 kilos of stone, over 100 liters of water from..." he drifted on and on.

James, the scout, looked at The Overseer with contempt flaring in his eyes. He knew that he was probably going to be sent out on another water-seeking mission. 100 liters was hardly enough water to quench the thirst of these people for more than a few days, and yet the great ol' Overseer made it seem like it was going to last an eternity.

James hated being the scout, for many reasons-- primarily because he'd always get harassed by the marauders that The Overseer supposedly was keeping the village safe from. He knew that the only reason the village wasn't marauded was because that Overseer made deals with those bandits-- he saw it go down himself on several occasions.

His mind was trailing off into the abyss, the strong voice of The Overseer doing his boring weekly report always had a sedative effect on him. He closed his eyes, and let himself drift off.

Johnny, the scout and trapper, was laying on the ground, away from the crowd. He had been given a bone to chew on.

message 5: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 26, 2013 06:16PM) (new)

James, suddenly aware of Johnny's presence and being bored to death from the Overseer's speech, decided to take a little stroll. "Heel, Johnny," he said coolly, turning to face the west side of the village.

Johnny looked up at James.

"C'mon, dude, let's go for a walk. It's better than being bored to death by this self-absorbed asshole's announcement," he said, his eyes darkening as he talked about the Overseer.

He stood up, on two legs, still chewing the bone, and looked up at James and then nodded.

James started walking at a rather fast pace, saying nothing until he was sure he was out of earshot of The Overseer. He then turned to Johnny, and said with contempt, "aw man, get a load of our great, high-and-mighty Overseer!" he forced a small chuckle, "who's been keeping us safe from the dangerous bandits and marauders with his ingenuity and guard. More like with our resources and food." He spat on the ground in frustration.

message 24: by rachel (new)

rachel Millicent sat against a sandstone house, the sun beating down intensely. She tossed handfuls of the reddish orange sand from hand to hand until nothing was left but a couple of grains. Instead of attending the meeting of whatever the Overseer wanted to tell them, she decided to rebel a little. She didn't enjoy being bound under rules, and she sure as heck wouldn't let this 'Overseer' bind her to any set of rules. She took another glance at the sky before taking the metal container of water beside her. She unscrewed the cap and lifted it to her lip, taking a couple of gulps before placing back beside her.

Sitting on a peculiar rick jutting out a good distance from the barren land, The Crazy Child was humming an odd tune. Her legs were hugged close to her chest and her eyes, though vibrant, were glassy and locked firmly on a little scorpion sitting boldly in front of her. It was a dark black and it's eyes were gleaming viciously, yet it did not attack her. Instead, Kathleen and the bug were having an intense stare off.

Johnny ran away from James, got onto all fours, and tackled The Crazy Child.

With a startled yelp, they both went flying off the rock. They landed on the red ground sending up a cloud of dust and a very confused scorpion. "Oh!" She gasped staring up at the dog-child sitting squarely on her chest. "Hello Johnny Dog."

"Hiding," She answered plainly."I stole from the Overseer. I don't think he realizes it. But I stole and I'm scared. Would you like to see what it is?" She tilted her head, her hair getting smothered in red sand.

She scooted over to the dark shadow casted by the rock. Reaching under it, she pulled out a large wooden box locked together with a loose and old padlock. She opened it slowly and smilled as she pulled out a white canvas board and a set of paints.

Johnny flinched.

message 43: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 27, 2013 08:27PM) (new)

James stormed over to the crazy child. "Kathleen, you have to put that back, right now! The Overseer is going to see what was stolen, and he's going to find it. Art is his passion, and canvas like this is a rare treasure. You have to put this back, or he'll blame all of us for this, and exile us-- no, maybe even kill us!"

Cait Sith Fairy (willowkeeper) | 47 comments Mod
Johnny's heart stopped. "E-exile us? K-kill us?"

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

"You've seen what he's done before to petty thieves. And to him, this isn't gonna be a petty theft. We have to put this back, now." James proceeded to walk over to Kathleen, and wrench the box of canvas and paint away from her. "Let's get this back before he suspects anything. Right now."

Tears welled up in her pellucid eyes. "N-no!" The word was ripped from her lips as she leaped at James. "No! Give it! I'm going to go insane if I don't get to draw! He stole everything from me! I need this! Give it!"

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

You could practically hear the wind getting knocked out of James as his stringy body got knocked to the ground. He wheezed out, "I'm so--" before a familiar figure interrupted him.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

"Well, well, what do we have here?" genuine curiosity filled the voice of The Overseer, as he surveyed the pile of Kathleen and James, then glancing over at Johnny, on the sidelines.
