So would drama be your favourite?

Comedy also. I can access the BBC from here and I watch the British Net Flix which has "Peep Show," a British comedy, I think on Channel Four, with i thinks really funny.
Been a few years since I sat to watch "Family Guy," and "The Simpsons," but always think those show are funny.

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) Favourite TV Show? It varies ask me tomorrow and I'll say something new. Also, if you ask me about the last year, that would include some shows that no longer run so for now, of shows that are on TV I'll say...(drum roll please!) Person of Interest and/or Grimm

Favourite TV Channel? Scy-fy channel (Sci-fi) though that's more of a statement of what I like than where I spend my time.

Favourite TV Genre? See above... I'd put shows like Alias, X-files, Fringe, Primeval (U.K. show), Being Human (both US and UK versons). Dr. Who (UK) but the best ever isn't on this list.

Favourite TV Actor/Actress? Wow, that's hard too. I tend to like female stars better because the guys are generally too "type cast" and... well never mind about the "and" (retired Sailor here, remember?) I will go with a guy from the series that recently ended it's run...

John Noble playing Dr. Walter Bishop on Fringe. Damn the Academy for their bias against sci-fi. There hasn't been a bigger snub since Battlestar Galactca's James Callis didn't get an invite for his protrayal of "Gius Baltar". It's not easy to live with a sexy blond women cylon in your head.

MJ (thatawkwardnerd) Doctor Who. I can't wait for it to return. I also love The Walking Dead and Sherlock.

Sophia | 60 comments Favourite TV Show: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, followed closely by Criminal Minds and SVU
Channel: I don't watch much tv on tv, I mostly just download the shows that I like, but I guess my fave is Australia's channel ten.
Genre: cartoons and Crime dramas.
Actor: Tara Strong, Andrea Libman, Matthew Gray Gubler

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 451 comments I'm into watching all of those teen mom shows

message 13: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 60 comments Yeah, definitely not a fan of reality TV. I have a friend who's a real tv junkie and she gets me to watch Master Chef and Big Brother and all sorts of crap like that whenever I'm at her place. So then I make her watch my little pony and we're even. :P

I love Big Brother!

message 15: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 60 comments I mean, I guess I do see the appeal, but it's just not really for me. I can't imagine exposing myself like that for the world to see and comment on just so that some rich media mogul can get good ratings and make a buck. I much prefer the polish and creative effort that goes into fictitious tv shows.

The only reality tv show that I ever really got into was Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. It was usually well-deserving people and it actually felt like it was a TV show that could make a positive difference in someone's life without getting overly personal. I haven't watched that show in years though. :P

I love Home Edition! It's a real pity that the show had to end.

Glee is a great show with a very talented cast.

I'm also a fan of the BBC."

I'm really glad you think that because my brother rips me to shreds about it every day which really annoys me since he's never even watched it!

message 22: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 60 comments Glee was good in season one. I stuck to it in season 2 out of loyalty (and also the Warblers were so dreamy!) but when the storyline collapsed in season 3 I gave up on it completely.

I LOVED watching Samantha Brown!! I don't know what happened to her, but I've pretty much stopped watching the channel.

Fav TV shows:

Downton Abbey
Dexter
Shameless
Nurse Jackie
Game of Thrones
The Borgias
(I guess I'm hooked on basically all the cable series!)
I also like the competition shows like Chopped, Project Runway, Face-off, etc... I loved the Bravo show Work of Art, but I heard they've cancelled it. :(

message 28: by Marie (new)

Marie (fyeahmarie) | 135 comments WOW...no one has mentioned Arrested Development or The Wire at all! I guess it's up to me to tout the genius of those shows.

AD was completely under-appreciated and ended well before its time, but in a way that is fitting because it will forever live on with its cult status. It is absolutely hilarious and clever and perfect. Big thanks to Netflix for not only carrying all three seasons, but also continuing the series with new episodes that will (possibly) lead to a movie, which will satisfy rabid fans such as myself.

The Wire is a crime and political drama set in Baltimore, Maryland. No words can describe how good it is.

But as for current favorite shows, I'd have to say Parks and Recreation and Game of Thrones.

Lucy, you and I have the exact same taste in TV it seems. Have you seen The Americans? It's great. Except for the competition programs, we agree on everything.

Marie, there are so many great cable series past and present I can't think of all of them. The Wire was fantastic as was The Shield on FX. Too many commercials but still great. Arrested Development, a great program way before it's time. I watched it on Netflix and enjoyed every bit of it. The Sopranos and just about all of the HBO series. Boss on Starz. Well, I could go on and on.

message 31: by Glenda (new)

Glenda (glenda-r) I'll add this after reading all the posts. I fear that the era of scripted TV is slowing moving away from us. I absolutely hate all those silly reality shows. I'm watching more BBC and pay channels thank I ever have. JMHO.

message 32: by DENISA (new)

DENISA HOWE | 1697 comments I too, think we have way too many reality shows and the talent search shows... How many do we need?

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I am loving "Pretty Little Liars" right now. Hopelessly addicted! :/

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't really enjoy television. My 'favorites' are:
Adventure Time
Steven Universe
Jeopardy

But I'd rather read a book than watch any of these.

message 40: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) This week I'm super excited for The Mandelorian and Star Trek: Picard, both on Season 3.
