Deloitte is a small town in central Michigan. It's the early 1980's.
Dukkar Barany is coming of age and coming-out under the influence of his small town neighbors, his social climbing mother, his wiser than he seems step-dad, and his grandmother who's anxious for him to embrace his Romany heritage.
Jason Baron has been exiled to Deloitte, his mom's old home town, by the death of his mother. Living with his disapproving bible totin' grandmother in a small converted carriage house makes for a tight fit. He's lost his mom, his Kentucky friends and even Soccer! Still he's got Tar his aging dog.
Werewolves and a Ghost figure prominantly in this story in later chapters but then, gay boys aren't the only ones with secrets!
I've been working for a while on a novel that incorporates some autobiographical elements of growing up in the midwest with some Gypsy or Rom themes. Progress is slow and I'm very much the hobbyist more than the industrious writer but hopefully I'll stick to it and have something publishable when I get further along.

I started this some time ago and sort of hit a wal and am about to pick it up and rework it. Before I do, I'd love your comments on what works and what doesn't, how interesting it is, what seems lacking.
