ha! and congrats!! I'm suddenly getting a bit bogged down 1/4 into this masterpiece. But..... forward -> that is the direction. I am awestruck and equally confounded. Any resources you could recommend would be helpful. (using cliff) BTW ~ The article I posted about Joyce, taken from The New Yorker, is short and well worth reading.
I was planning on visiting your link tomorrow, but I need a day to decompress from it I think.I used Spark Notes and also found a set of lectures from The Teaching Company on the book. I don't think it's possible to pull one's self through this completely without some guidance.
They look currently rather expensive for the lecture series . Let me know if you want a copy, though, and w can figure something out .
egads....Oh ya, this series is too expensive for me. I hope to get down the mountain to a real library and look for Ulysses help. I need to slow down and dig for understanding, rather than passing over the unknown, of which there is a plenty! To stop and study vs simply read and enjoy what I CAN glean from Joyce ~ that is the conundrum. If I get desperate (over stating my dilemma) I'll get back to you. At present, I 'keep on trucking'.... still, it inspires. It's like the full moon. I gaze in wonder but I have to forego fly to it.

But I also want to be wrapped in one of those foil jackets you get at the end of a marathon.
