What process in writing is hardest for you, whether it's first draft, rewriting, editing, or even the synopsis for publishers?
The hardest part for me is probably the pacing. I think it’s because of my background in news where everything has to be fast and to the point. I have to work on slowing down, drawing out scenes, taking my time.
While you were writing, did you ever feel as if you were one of the characters?
No, but I do feel very protective of my characters. They become like my children, and I never want anything bad to happen to them. And then when readers “meet” them, I want everyone to like them. Well, except the bad ones, of course—Ha ha!
What’s your favorite place in the entire world?
Easy. The beach. The waves are so inspiring to me, and if something bad happens, for whatever reason, it makes me feel like I’ll be okay. The waves just keep on crashing, year after year, forever. Does that make sense?
Will you have a new book coming out soon?
Yes! I’ve got the companion to THE TRUTH ABOUT FAKING coming out very soon! (It is due to come out on Feb 21st, 2013.) It’s called THE TRUTH ABOUT LETTING GO, and it follows a character from FAKING (Ashley Lockett) through the death of her father.
She’s very angry and sad, and she goes through this rebellious grief cycle where she turns her back on everyone and starts doing self-destructive things. By the book’s end, though, she’s making her way back. It’s a little more emotional than TTAF, a little sexier, but it’s still relatively sweet and has a great message, I think.
Where can we find your books?
Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo. (Do you want purchase links for each book? I can provide those—just lmk! Thanks!)
On Amazon, I have an author page where all my books are listed together. It’s here: http://www.amazon.com/Leigh-Talbert-M...
Thanks so much again for having me here! And thanks for reading~ <3

Please Check Out:
As the rising star of the hottest cabaret in New Orleans, Hale Ferrer has only one goal: Escape.
Escape from the lies and manipulations, from the nonstop work and constant hunger, and from her growing fear that one day she'll have to earn her living in the secret back rooms, where the dancers do more than dance.
But she won't go without Teeny, the orphan-girl she rescued from the streets and promised to protect.
Freddie Lovel, Hale's wealthy Parisian suitor, is the perfect solution. He says he loves her, he knows nothing of her impoverished background, and he has the potential to sweep her and Teeny far away from their bleak existence in south Louisiana.
If only his touch could arouse her interest like Beau's, the poor stagehand who captures her heart. Beau, who makes her laugh and feel safe, who rescues her from more than one close call, and whose blue eyes are like Louisiana iris flowers.
Denying her fears, Hale is ready to choose love and a life with Beau, until a predator lurking in their theater-home launches a chain of events that could cost her everything--Teeny, their one hope of escape, and possibly even her life.
Jason just wants a date with Harley.
Harley just wants a date with Trent.
Trent's still getting over Stephanie.
When Harley and Jason decide to fake date, they uncover a school of deceptions. Trent's got a secret, but so does Jason. And the more time Harley spends secretly kissing her fake boyfriend, the further she gets from her dreams with Trent.
Worst of all, Harley's mom is getting cozy with her hot massage therapy student, and even Harley's Reverend Dad can't fake not being bothered by it. But when the masks finally come off, can everyone handle the real truth?

Thanks so much for having me Ellen!
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I was born and lived in Baton Rouge, La., until I was 31. Then I lived along the Gulf Coast in south Alabama for seven years, and now I’m in the Midwest! My first career was in journalism, so I did news writing for 15 years. In 2009, I started writing novels.
I’ve got two little daughters and a wonderful husband. And a grumpy cat named Flower who likes to bite me.
