I haven't read the book yet, just bought the book today! But it has this cover:
I like the original cover better :)

I prefer the original covers over movie covers.

I completely agree about covers!
I think this movie looks pretty good. Hopefully my hubby will take me for Valentines Day :o)
I haven't read the book, but definitely want to now that I know it exists!
I really want to see the movie, but my mom's not that person who watches movies :(I already read the book and apparently as much as I would like to love it, I had to force myself to finish it. :/ (same for second book as well. The 3rd book was much better)
Though the movie on the other hand... *must convince mom to take me o-o*

Same here. I didn't love it like everyone else. For awhile I got really into it but then about halfway through it became slow. It's pretty long and I was only reading a few chapters at a time. Had to finally return it to the library and just never check it out again so I never finished it. I remember thinking it would make a good movie though. Often when I read I play it out in my head like a movie.

I quite liked this but the middle bit was so slow I ended up putting it down and reading a whole other book because I just couldn't bring myself to pick this back up. The beginning and ending were really great though and I'll definitely be watching the movie! :)

That's what I do as well. ^_^
Hopefully the movie will be much better :3
I liked the book but I couldn't get through the second one and the movie commercial looks like its going to suck
I started reading this before it was a monthly pick- because I had wanted to read it and because of the movie previews. I enjoyed it but was not crazy about it being in Ethan's point of view. I bought the next book in the series to read but hate that they are sooooooo long. Book length often makes me want to put something back! But I am excited to see the movie when it comes out!
I loved the book, the second one wasn't as good, but the series overall is going great. I can't wait to see the movie!! Amma, Ridley and Link were awesome too. Great supporting characters
I'm kinda surprised that they made Baeutiful Creatures into a movie, but I'm not complaining. I'm going to see it anyway.
I gave this book a 3.5 when I read it some time last year cause it was hard for me to finish it. The 3rd book I really enjoyed, though. And the 4th. Looking forward to seeing the movie! :)
In the previews for the movie Lena doesn't have a crescent shaped birth-mark under her left eye!!!! WHAT!!!
You know, I started this book thinking it was really good but it was sooo long and not fast paced enough for me. I gave up and moved on. I may try to read it again once i've re-read Catching Fire. I am however VERY excited to see the movie!
Rachel wrote: "In the previews for the movie Lena doesn't have a crescent shaped birth-mark under her left eye!!!! WHAT!!!"Really?!?!?! Gee, I do need to pay more attention when reading! The teeny details get bopped out so easily >_<

I know!! I didn't notice it until today, 3 days till the movie is out!!!

Aww, I have to wait an additional few months before the DvD! WAHHH (please ignore my invisible whiny face there o-o).
I enjoyed the books but found book 2 to be hard to finish. I'm really looking forward to the movies but I'm not a fan of making Amma the librarian. I wish they'd kept Amma and Marion's characters separate!

No Marion? Dx NUUU
In most cases, I prefer to read the book before watching the movie. I feel like books are more detailed. Movies help to make the book come to life. In this case though, I think I might prefer to watch the movie and skip the book. I've seen too many comments where the book is slow and long.

Yep -- Amma is serving as both the Caster Librarian and her own character from what I've read, which I just don't get.

WHAT!!! The caster librarian, who knew Ethan's mom is VERY important!!! If they're going to make a second movie, they're screwed!! What was the caster librarians name... Marian?
Yep, that's her! That's what I was thinking too. They've royally screwed themselves if this takes off and the finish out the series with movie adaptations!
@Shari, I think watching movies before the books is better. Kinda makes you go WOW when you finally read the book.
Alexandrea wrote: "That's funny that you say that Shari cause I don't always think that BUT I definitely that about this book. :) I watched the movie first and then I'm now reading the book..."Ethan is pretty much a dull person. He just goes with everything and doesn't act out much.

Oh yea... the trailer shows it too
I think I might hold off on reading the book until after I watch the movies. I usually read the books before watching the movies but I think I'll do the same with this book as I did with the Harry Potter series and watch the movie before reading the book.
I love the books, especially the third and fourth ones, those two almost made me cry! I got these silver tickets from AMC for Christmas so I've been saving them to watch the movie. Maybe next week I will see it :D
i enjoyed the book alot. i enjoyes leqrning about the characters and there were surprises in the book. iv seen the film, which i enjoyed but i have enjoyed the book more. i like the visualisation of the film but it did have gaps. so i will defo be refering to the book more than the film :/
OMG I'M ON BEAUTIFUL DARKNESS!!! lol I loved the first book and let my friend burrow, ugh I hate when I do that cause she was begging me to let her read it...ugh....anyway the movie was awesome I loved Ethan so much
I just got back from seeing the movie. I wanted to read the book but now I can't because the movie totally ruined it. It was awful!!
Sheena wrote: "that's why i prefer reading the book first before watching the movie"yeah me too, but i went and saw it for my friends birthday and i was sorta sad that i went to watch it. i knew it was going to be really bad..
I saw the movie Sunday and it left me disappointed. I've started reading the book. I am happy I didn't read it before watching the movies. If I had I would have gotten up and left then again after paying $30 for tickets maybe not.
Raven wrote: "I saw the movie Sunday and it left me disappointed. I've started reading the book. I am happy I didn't read it before watching the movies. Does anyone find the flow choppy?I'm not really sure what is going on at 160 pages, but I'm not too set off by it.
I found it pretty meh.... had to force myself to finish it ._. Eventually didn't. Just went to SkimTown

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.
Discuss Lena & Ethan. What do you think of Lena's power? The movie is out on Valentine's Day! Who is planning on seeing it?
