Wylie the Wily's ancient cavern
There are also several creatures besides Tesir here that are unnatural. I will describe them as we go."This cavern is marvelous," Wylie's oldest son, Duncan, said beside his sort-of brother, Tesir and his sister, Brianna.
"But outside... there are trees and grass and wildlife. It's amazing. I wish you could see it, Tesir, but the Ministry can't know you exist or they'll shut us down and kill our father."
Brianna nodded sympathetically. "The outside world must be wonderful."
She couldn't go outside either because she had a fatal and contagious disease. It was why Wylie had first started his work- to find a cure.
"I think I've found something that will work!" Wylie shouted down the hallway. "By examining Tesir's DNA, I've figured out what gives dragons such longevity. You'll be cured and live at least twenty years past the norm!" Wylie lifted up a bright purple potion. "Today, our search is complete! Today-"
He was interrupted when a spell flew into his side and he collapsed.
The potion fell to the floor and its vial shattered.
"No! That was the only..." Wylie protested desperately.
An agent from the Ministry, an Auror, had held the wand. "What is this?" he jerked his wand toward Tesir.
Wylie stood to his full height (he was small). "That is the greatest scientific breakthrough we'll have in centuries. That is an immortal being, and its DNA just unlocked the possibility of curing any disease."
"The ministry will have to see this cure.""You just destroyed it, so you can explain that to them," Wylie said sourly.
"I believe that we didn't give you permission to pursue this project, the cost was too great."
"Their prejudices were too great! The dragons were peaceful until the Wizards attacked them! A wand was a small price to pay for Ultimate Life."
"Well, then, you won't mind giving up yours." The auror flicked his wand and Wylie's flew into his hands.
Tesir surged forward and gave the Auror a kick. "Give the professor his wand back!" he demanded.
The auror went down with a sickening snap in his left arm. Wylie's wand fell from his grip as his face hardened.
"Listen well, Wylie. Your project is done and you'll get the death penalty for theft of a wand and plotting against the Ministry by creating this monster. Mark the words of Eustace H. Bell!" with a CRACK, the auror was gone.
"They're shutting us down," Duncan told Tesir and Brianna, packing. "We have to get out of here.""I can't spread my disease!" Brianna insisted. "I will remain here."
"What has humanity ever done for you!? We spent our whole lives trying to make medicines to take away people's pain and they captured our father! They're going to come to take Tesir soon, and if you're in the way they'll kill you! You still have a few more years left, Brianna. Please, come with me. Wylie's line will continue.
((The weird part is that D's descended from Wylie on his mother's side...))
"Everyone deserves a chance at life, Duncan. Just because I didn't get mine doesn't give me a right to take away anyone else's. I'm going to stay here with Tesir. You go. Live your life." She gave him one final embrace.
"We will be remembered," Duncan smiled to her.
She laughed. "The Ministry will blot our names off of everything they were ever on."
"Then maybe one of my children will be. Or their children, and so on and so forth."
"What?"
"Sorry, no one will say that for a few centuries."
Breaking fourth wall.
The aurors did come for Tesir. Brianna was in the way.
Bell killed her right in front of Tesir's startled eyes.
The cell that they put him in only held him for two days before he killed his way out.
"They will pay," Tesir vowed. "Even if I have to wait an eternity for the opportunity!"
"This place is perfect," Donald David Duncan glanced around. "Look at this place. Look at those weapons!"The weapons were magical, and every one of them was illegal and a good bit of them had been illegal when they'd been bought. "What are those for?"
"They were for testing the prototypes of immortality, seeing if they could take heavy weapon fire."
"And the ministry approved these weapons?"
"Some of them," Tesir answered shortly.
Donald was getting to like Wylie the Wily.
"How do we energize the toxin?" Duncan asked."We need seven wands, each built up with the spell you invented to the power of ten wands."
"Ah, that's why you came to me. The year should be starting now. I'm going to transport you to Hogwarts express. Kill seven students, take their wands, and we'll use those wands for the adsorptions. We'll collect more energy than has ever been collected... Ollivander's... You go get the starter wands, I'll take some inventory." D transported Tesir.
D was jovial about the weapons, amazed with the prototypes of Tesir, in awe at how many goblins had volunteered to work for Wylie. He was more shocked tofind a chocolate frog card of Duncan Wylie, rumored 14th owner of the Elder wand. After reading it all the way through, he lightly tapped it to make sure that it would still happen. The transformation. Sure enough, the card automatically changed to Wylie's card. According to Tesir's memories, the card was pure garbage. Started a goblin rebellion. Was killed by his own followers.
No mention of the Ministry hiring him to make an eternal life potion or of their killing him. Curious, D poured a random memory inti the Pensieve and took a look. It was Wylie's memory. His last memory.
"These are your last words before I kill you, psychopath," Bell sneered at Wylie. The old man looked right at the auror and spat at him, "I gave your Ministry my life, as did my children. We cured half the diseases in Europe, and the Ministry began working to use potions as weapons, tools to kill. And who was the victim? My sweet, innocent daughter Brianna, who had never wronged you or anyone. Then, when I try to heal her, to fix her, the Ministry refused to fund it. I had to make Eternal Life possible. I was not allowed to work on anything else. I managed to work my way around it, of course. 'Minister, if the potion cannot stop all diseases then how can we be sure that we won't die naturally anyway?' So the only way to save my daughter was to make her a lab rat. And then the Ministry refused to let the project continue. Afraid of the price of one wand. And then I delivered on what the Ministry wanted. Ultimate Life. And you took my work. You took my daughter. You captured one of my sons and drove away the other. Well, you'll pay. You'll all pay. Tesir will make sure of that."
"What do you mean you only got five wands?" D admonished. "How could you-""I ran into Bell. Didn't put up much of a fight, but then the aurors arrived."
"I've been looking a bit around the memories, and I'm wondering if Wylie was a bit..."
"He started losing it those last few days before the Ministry arrived, always looking over his shoulder while he worked, cursing them under his breath. He was almost relieved when they finally arrived. The constant paranoia was almost worse than death."
"And he instructed you to visit havoc on the human race, did he?"
Tesir blinked once. "Yes."
"Because, you see, I'm trying to save humanity."
"In that case your methods are questionable."
"Well, we have our reasons, but right now we're working toward the same goal, and while we both think it will work toward opposite achievements, we're allies. Dividing forces at this crucial juncture would make both of our plans impossible," D reminded Tesir."How did you get the Mathis boy to bend to your every whim?"
"Fairly simple. I kept him convinced that he was in charge."
"Interesting," Tesir noted.
D didn't know it, but he was being played for a fool. The toxin wasn't restricted to ten elevenths.
"You do know I'm descended from Wylie, don't you?""Yes, I've been tracking that family. You and your some-amount-of-greats niece, Hubris Mathis, are the last living descendants of Wylie."
"Who?"
"The Mathis boy's mother."
"So I possessed my own something-greats nephew and twisted his form back to mine?"
"Yes," Tesir didn't see why the wizard cared. If he'd cared about family, he'd had one hundred years to do some genealogical study.
D sort of hobbled away from the meeting room. He was learning a lot about family lately. and he'd once thought he'd also known a lot about anger.
Tesir had a lot to teach him on that subject.
((O.o Interesting turn of events. So D does have a heart?))
((He always had a heart, remember he was trying to help the people like him, the small, bullied people who were picked on by the big by getting rid of the jerks?))
D had heard everything Eberts and Lizzie had said through the ears of a hawk. He, Tesir, three hundred goblins, and a fiendfyre waited at the only entrance. The instant that the small door opened, everything within twelve feet of it would be incinerated.I really hope the old man doesn't anticipate me, D thought.
Twenty feet away from the door, Eberts told her to open it with magic.
"Twenty percent sure. Open it."He was in fact twenty point one three nine seven six two percent sure but was one hundred percent sure she didn't want to hear it.
As if on cue everything within twelve feet of the door exploded and everything withing nineteen feet was coated in burning rubble. "He's got an army in there," Eberts muttered more to himself than Lizzy.
And with that statement, Tesir sped at her as the fiendfyre rampaged toward Eberts.Eberts lifted his hand and pushed the fiendfyre into the dirt, grounding out its flames.
Three hundred goblins stormed toward them, but someone was missing.
D retreated deeper into the tunnels, knowing that Tesir would do well at holding Bell and Eberts. With an expulso charm, he blew open a wall.
They had fifty wands from the goblins' raids. Just twenty more.
He lifted up two wands that had the power of ten, not trusting his own wand that had the power of fifty but gave spotty service.
"Accio wands!" He shouted.
Tesir was hardly slowed down by the spells and ran full-force into the metal head of Eberts's cane. He got up from this quickly and five goblins pounced at Eberts, pulling him away from Jade."Murderer," Tesir growled at her, then summoned a sphere of fire into his right hand, prepared to throw.
"EVADA KEDAVRA!" The words left her mouth before she could stop them, filled with so much rage and sheer adrenaline. Right after she realized what spell she had aimed at the creature, she froze, shocked, comprehending the power she had just held. The power to kill.
Tesir was thrown back into the crowd of goblins by the powerful spell and burned up fifteen goblins before he unsteadily rose to his feet, only to fall back down again. He struggled up to his knees and finally returned to a standing position. "Magically enhanced dragon DNA has its advantages," he noted.
Then a cane hit him in the face.
Ten... eleven... twelve... ooh, two at once. fifteen... sixteen... seventeen... eighteen... eighteen... eighteen...
"The spell was working perfectly fine! Where are the other two wands!?" D yelled at no one in particular.
Jade had a wand... as did the dragon deep in the bowels of the cavern.Maybe he had time to head to Hogwarts?
Tesir again kicked Eberts in the crippled foot because it seemed to be a winning formula. Again he ran at Jade, very grudgy about something that had happened hundreds of years before she was born.
"Back up, I will hurt you!" Jade pointed the one at Tesir once more, expecting him to believe her warning and back off.
He punched her hand almost hard enough to crack bone, throwing the wand from her grasp at about the same moment that a dragon under D's legilimens snatched Eberts up with its claws and began to attempt to fly him away. Jade was helpless, fighting an immortal being.
"Bell dies."
"To heck with that." Jade glared at him, clenching her fists tight. If she was going down, she'd go down fighting... But hopefully she wasn't going down at all.
((I was hoping she would do something of note, like grabbed a weapon from a bbqd goblin and tried to fry him with it.))
((Illegal ones. Just pick a power. Electric bolts, pain lasers, torture rays, explosion zingers. Anything.))
A sudden thought struck the girl and she shifted her boot. As she thought, Eberts' dagger was still stored there. If only she could reach for it without the beast seeing...
((I recommend getting him to rant.))Tesir cloaked himself in flames, meaning to strangle Jade with a blazing arm. Not the best death.
"Wait, wait, wait..." Jade bit her lip. Crap... What do I do? A lightening bolt if thought slashed through her mind. "So, why exactly do you want to kill me? I mean, ya ya ya, my ancestor killed whoever, but why do you want to kill ME?"
"You'd have done the same, and worse," Tesir spat. "Duncan showed me before he left. Humans are getting worse every generation, nothing left worth saving. D wants to use natural selection to keep the deserving alive. But there are none." Madness glinted in Tesir's eyes, an obsessed insanity. "He thinks the toxin will wipe out the stupid and cruel and lazy. And it shall. But none will remain."
((I'm kool with it. Jade may need assistance. But we might as well get Maniac's view :) ))
On about the third sentence of Tesir's rant, Jade bent down, plucking the dagger from her boot, holding it behind her back.
On about the third sentence of Tesir's rant, Jade bent down, plucking the dagger from her boot, holding it behind her back.
A faint pop was echoed throughout the cavern. Nikki stood frozen staring at the strange golden being in front of her.
Jade's eyes flickered to the girl, but she quickly looked back at the beast, totally confused, but willing to go along with it.
((Pfft. Fine.))Tesir then aimed a blast of fire at her face. "Not one step closer, Bell. I'm going to blast you to death."

If you come in you'll probably die.
D WILL KILL YOU IF YOU'RE NOT A CHOSEN ONE
