My take on Obsidian: It is the anti-Twilight. I feel like she read the Twilight Saga and said..... "Oh heck no! Now I shall write you a girl meets weird boy book with a REAL heroine." Then she set about doing it. And she did it quite well. Katy may be flawed and has a habit of making not so great decisions (like every 17 year old girl), but she takes no crap from broody and cranky Daemon, no matter how hot he may be.
Obsidian is fun and snarky and pokes fun at the more ridiculous bits of Twilight while still being incredibly original.
It is also incredibly hot without being over the top or too sexy for a 16 or 17 year old to read.
