Kiara's footsteps slowed once she reached the gates of the graveyard. She didn't want to run in such a quiet place.leaving her books by the gate, she slowly walked around the grave stones, making her way to the back of the cemetery. All of the older crosses and headstones were at the front, letters faded so their names could hardly be known anymore. There was the occasional bundle of flowers and as she made her way deeper into the yard there was more and more. Finally, she made it to her mothers grave. It had wilted flowers from the other day that Kira had placed there. She would have to bring more. Kneeling down beside the headstone, careful not to disturb anything, she just looked at her mothers name engraved in the stone.
Kaitlyn Martin
She sighed and closed her eyes. Maybe if she concentrated she could hear her mother this time instead of just feeling her. Being near the grave, or maybe it was just the cemetery, but Kiara felt closer to the other world that she strongly believed in.
Toby followed Kiara through the graveyard until he saw her kneel down in front of one grave. Now it made sense. She had sensed him and thought he was someone she knew who had passed. He leaned in and read the gravestone. Kaitlyn Martin. He didn't recognize it, but figured it must be a friend of hers or a relative. Toby glanced around him and saw a few other peculiar minds wandering around (this was a popular place as you might guess). He felt another burst of lonliness and, though he felt bad interrupting Kiara, he felt he must try once more to talk to her. He cleared his throat "Um..Kiara? Hi. I'm Toby. I don't know if you can hear me, but if you can, please tell me. I'm not whoever you think I am, but I am a..a sort of..ghost..I suppose." He flinched at the word ghost, he hated it.
As she concentrated, she started to get a small head ache before a small buzzing like sound hit her ears. Like a radio right before you hit the right station. "Hello?" she perked right up. Then she heard one word, ghost. "Your a ghost? Your here?" she whispered. She could believe it. Had she actually talked to one? Or was this just her imagination?
Toby's heart leaped and he laughed with relief. "Yeah I'm a ghost! Well, sort of...I'm actually a peculiar mind, but you can call me a ghost if you'd like! By the way, who is it that you thought I was at first?" Toby plopped down next to Kiara and wore a giant, goofy grin on his face. He hadn't talked to anyone since probably the first week of being a peculiar mind (most peculiar minds weren't in much a mood for talking).
Kiara squeezed her eyes shut as the buzzing noise got louder. She could make anything out really except for the occational word. She forced herself to concentraqte harder. Peculiar mind and first were really the only words she could definatly say she heard. But that wasnt much to go one. Talking a deep breath, calming herself she said, "Are you my mother?"
