Aiden whistled. "Nice." He placed his bags down, but held onto his fathers. "I'll make myself comfortable later on. Where's my dad's room? His things need to be put away." He held back what the "things" were. Hopefully she wouldn't ask so he wouldn't have to lie to her.
"things?" she asked. she new how to catch suspisious 'things'. "what kind of things?" she asked.
"I'm sorry Miss, but it's best if you don't know. If I told you, I'd be considered a traitor to Illea, and I'd die before that happened."
she narrowed her eyes. "what are you hiding' she said, completly blocking the door.
Aiden glared at her, "Aria I don't know how long you've been doing this job, but you are clearly terrible at it if you are honestly questioning what a General takes with him to the palace. Use your common sense. As far as I am concerned, you are a civilian, and therefore not privy to certain information. Please have the decency to show some respect to my father.”
"i respect your father" she said. "not what he carries with him" she added. "And i am no civilian" she said. "I know things that you have no way of knowing. Another thing, I am one of the most useful people in the country. Best archer in the entire country, and with highest school results every year" she added. "i have a right to know. if you wish, i can get a 'warrent' in lees than 20 minutes" she added. There was no way this boy was going to over step her. she could destroy him with the snap of her fingers.
Aiden smiled, tightly clutched the bag with his father's things, and then took off. There was no way Aria could catch him. Maybe, just maybe she could beat him in a fight (He doubted it because he had been trained how to fight by his dad) but there was no way she could run as fast as him. Aiden could run at the human limit, not something you could learn, but had to be blessed with. He was a top class running back and linebacker for his football team. No one could ever catch him or get past him. There was something about Aria that made Aiden suspicious. She had a menacing look in her eyes, and she was way too obsessed with what was in his dad’s bag. Obviously, he had weapons. But, even more importantly, he had top secret papers. Papers that involved the biggest secrets of Illea and protection of the Royal Family. Aspen carried them around, giving them protection 24/7 so no enemy could get their hands on the information. He would only trust his golden boy son with their protection other than himself. Was Aria an enemy? She should know better than to ask about anything the General had. He was second in command to King Maxon. It was practically treason. Actually, Aiden was pretty sure it was treason.
He ran quick and steady to the briefing room, sure his dad went there. While he had never been to the palace in person, he had studied blue prints of the palace his entire life. He burst through the doors, his breathing slightly accelerated, but not sweating at all. At that exact moment, the siren began wailing throughout the palace.
Aria knew where he was going and followed, slmming the door behing her. several guards shivered as she passed by. today was not a day to piss her off.
