For someone that is starting to stretch their reviewing wings, this group is perfect. I've been writing reviews on and off, but more on now a days for a few months. Amazon being my main source. I've had a goodreads account for a long time, I just forgot about it until recently and have been moving my reviews over to here slowly. I tend to have a short attention span sometimes. . .eventually I'll have them all here.
I am a self proclaimed book addict, you will almost always find me with my kindle in my hand. I carry that thing everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. I tend to go for deals because let me tell you being addicted to books can get pricey. At this point I won't buy anything that is over five dollars, unless it comes with some heavy recommendation with it. Free ebooks are my best friend. I like to review books that seem to get lost in the crowd, but have nothing against screaming my review out there with everyone else. . .if I liked the book enough. Or in my opinion has great reviews that tricked me into reading it and then I feel I have to put out there what its all really about.
About me, without getting to personal, I have a small family and an insane cat. I like reading Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction, in that order. I'm a little bit of a zom-a-holic, if it has zombies in it I need to read it or watch it (yes I am that person that has a plan if the zombie apocalypse happens, not gonna lie I get bored easily and these are the kind of things that run through my head when I do).
According to my husband, and here I will paraphrase, Your crazy all the time, and when you feel like your acting crazy your really acting normal. I tend to space out a lot, we call this going to AngieLand.
Well that is me in a nutshell. . .make of it what you want.

You must be on the edge of your seat waiting for The Walking Dead to return this weekend then (:
You sound a LOT like me, except I have a kindle and kobo on my Iphone. Being a book addict is not easy, and definitely not cheap. So if I want to read a book, I'll look at kobo and kindle to get the best price for it. I LOVE reading and reviewing for new authors, they generally have great ideas and just need an honest review to take their writing to the next level, which is why I have created this group. My hope is that as it grows, goodreads authors will take notice and join for reviews.
Let me be the first to welcome you to this new group. Thanks for joining, and feel free to send any comments or suggestions my way (:

Thanks to Alexandar for the invite. I happen to love writing reviews and reading them (even though I sometimes suck at it). Lately I have been reading and reviewing a lot of Indie-pubs and finding some really good reads. I don't exclusivly read anything indie or exclusively commercially published. I'm also not a blogger (though, that's more of me being technically challenged). I don't review for a website or anything, just for me, the author (as much as any review is "for" an author) and anyone who will wade through my grammatical, syntax and spelling errors to try and figure out what I'm saying and if it means anything.
But, as you can see, you'll have no issues getting me to have an opion and express it... (It's getting me to shut up that's the problem.)
Glad to be here.
Hello everyone,
I was pleased to get the invitation to join the group, as I'm always looking for new reads for myself, and new readers for my books. My name is Cynthia, and I'm from Durham Region, outside of Toronto. I'm a mom of 4 kids, ranging from 12 to 3. I'm looking forward to reading the reviews!

Welcome to this new group dedicated to reading and reviewing! Thanks for joining!
It's so nice to see so many other readers who share my interests. (:
Cynthia: I am very interested in reading your novels. I will have to get back to you as soon as I have some more spare time as I have just agreed to read Alexandars book and am currently reading Feed.
I am also a mom of four. So I know the busy life you lead just in terms of motherhood (:
I look forward to getting to know you all better and sharing our love of books with one another.

Sounds fantastic! Just contact me whenever your reading list frees up. Most of us on Goodreads have pretty insane "to read" lists :)
I probably should've included the link to my "About Me" page on my site. That would certainly tell you more than the teeny blurb I posted! http://cynthiahillbooks.com/about-the...

I hear you on that one. It is so easy to get a large to read list when they give recommendations based on your rating of books that you have read. Mine is LONG. But I love to read a book on my list, then read a book for an author review, then a book from my list, etc.
I love writing reviews almost as much as I love reading (:

Hi, I'm Ed. I actually work at b&n so I've always got more books on my to-read-list than not. I love checking out book reviews so that I can make reccomendations to customers at my store. I can be a bit more stingy with my own reviews of books if they felt like luke-warm reads, but I can be pretty vocal when a book is exceptionally good or bad. I'm glad for the invite to the group, it'll be fun to read a book together and compare our reviews. ^_^
hello everyone, mabuhay!!!first thank you Alexander for inviting me here. I'm Vheel from the Philippines. I really love reading on my spare time and anything that pique my interest from drama to thriller to comedy to non-fiction but not too much on the adult romance shelves (not my thing, and can't picture one out like depicting having sexy time near a chimney with their velvet dress on hehehe). Hope the group will go a long way for discussions & reviews :)
Welcome to the group Ed and Vheel! Thanks for joining. I just want to say, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to work at a bookstore! I have actually tried to get into Chapters as a part-time job through university, but they hired full time instead. Probably better that way, I wouldn't have been a great worker...I'd of made a kick butt reader though ;)
As for discussions and reviews, I hope we can do great things there as well. (: I have started one group read, I am not sure if I will have more than one book a month, because I like to let the readers have time for personal reads and reads for authors. But we shall see how the one read a month works for a bit.
This group is growing WAY faster then had expected. Started two days ago and already up to 80+ members! I believe its time I start looking for more help to run this group...LOL
Welcome to all of our members. Feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions or questions. (: I'm always happy to help a fellow reader.

Hello! Thanks for the invite Alexander. I am an avid reader of YA, sci-fi and steampunk. I'm an orthodontist and periodontist by day and an author by night. I'm excited to be a part of this group.
Writing is something that I never should have stopped doing since when I was a child. Started it again in 2007, and never looked back.I'm Imran Siddiq. I work in the Health Service, do lots of work and am always trying to improve. The evenings are mine to own, and that's where I come alive with writing and digital art.
Have written 6 novels, and just released my first last month. I won't spam, so it's up to you if you click and read it. (Disconnect is a YA Sci Fi with Romance).
The novel is written in a totally Male 3rd Person Limited.
I am still chasing the traditional route, and although I am haven't been lucky, I have received great feedback, and am regularly attending writing festivals.
My ethos is to write and trust the support that so many other writers give to one another. You are not alone. We are here.
Hey everyone! I'm Kathy from north of Boston, and I'm a reader/blogger of pretty much every kind of books. My favorites tend to be in the paranormal romance and young adult categories but I also enjoy sci-fi and fantasy as well. I wish I was smart enough to actually write a book but I settle for running my blog http://bookmarksspoilersandhappilyeve... which I started a couple months ago and hopefully my reviews are getting better...but I guess we shall see!
Offline I'm a recent nursing school graduate with oodles of loan bills coming in so I can understand that reading so many books costs so much >_< lol but I love it so its usually worth it :) Looking forward to talking with everyone!
Welcome to the group and thank you for deciding to join us! I am just an addicted reader who enjoys writing reviews, though I often daydream for hours on end about becoming a writer and how I would feel to be published. Dreaming is good, someday I may reach for it and hold it close. Till then I have settled for reading and reviewing. (: If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to let me know. Thanks!

I was shelving some of the referance books at my store the other day and came across a book on writing a novel in a month. The info on the author said that he helped start National Novel Writing Month (or something like that). Has anyone else heard about this or tried particiating? It sounds like a lot of fun and a good way to pop the first novel cherry for someone who just isn't sure if they can commit to writting that much.

I've heard of this before, but it was a few years ago. I remember thinking it was a really awesome idea and that I wanted to give it a shot, but I never did anything with it. If anyone has more info on it that would be great.

That sounds really interesting Shaina and Angie. I can't seem to commit to writing for a LONG drawn out period of time, but a month...I should be able to do that. I need to find this book (:
I tried to find the book again to get the title and author, but it must have been purchased already. I'll keep checking the section for it, though. In the meantime, I did find the website for National Novel Writing Month (it's November) and it seems really well organized: http://www.nanowrimo.org/en
Lol, also, I just realized that I introduced myself to the group as Ed. I must have changed my name on here to my real name, Shaina, at some point. Usually, Ed is my online handle for everything. ^_^
I'm Louise, and I writ reviews, but I have to admit, the number of reviews I'm writing to the number of books I finish lately is not a very even ratio :/ Hopefully I'll come back to my senses soon, but while I'm waiting, I love reading other people's reviews :)
Ugh, November is like the worst month for me to try and write something. Both my kids birthdays are during that month, and they are getting old enough that having a cake and gifts just from mom, dad and a few family members isn't going to cut it anymore. I'm going to have to start doing those lame party's out at some child infested place. . .I say that and it makes me look like I don't like kids lol, to clear that up I like MY kids not so much other peoples. . .and listen to the wheels on the bus go round and round or something equally as bad for 2-3 hours. You can totally tell I'm not looking forward to this.
LOL Angie! I love MY kids...other kids...not so much. I have four, and that's enough kids for me LOL. November is a bad month for me to write anything as well because I'm a university student and that's midterm month for the fall season. So, looks like I'll try some exercises over the summer holiday. :/
I agree, November is a terrible month for trying to write a novel. Right before Christmas in retail, I do nothing but work and try to de-stress from my workday while also attempting to fit in all the obligatory family holiday stuff. Lol, maybe we should just start our own NaNoWriMo Summer Edition.
Hi I'm Elicia and I'm an avid reviewer and blogger that voices out everything about what I think of a book! I love reading, obviously and music! I honestly think writing reviews are fun because you let other people know which books are awesome and which are just plain horrible. And you get liked too!I have a book blog with my friend called Girl in the Woods Reviews. Anyone of you who wants to check it out can go to this link:

Hi Elicia! Welcome to the group :) I just followed your blog, it looks super interesting! We have several authors looking for some honest reviews so feel free to check them out and send them a message. :) If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm always looking for ways to improve this group so that we can reach as many readers, writers, and reviewers as possible.
Happy Reading,
Kristine

Hi everyone *waves*. I only joined GR at Christmas but am seriously addicted now. Have loved reading all my life and am now finding I'm enjoying reviewing just as much.
Welcome to the group Bookishtrish :) I'm glad that you found your way to us! We definitely have several authors looking for reviews here that would love to allow you the pleasure of reviewing their work. :)
If you have any suggestions or comments feel free to let me know at any time. This is your group too now and we want to make sure we can continue to reach as many readers, reviewers, and writers as possible while keeping our members engaged and coming back for more :)
Thanks for joining,
Happy Reading,
Kristine

Hello! My name is Marie and thank you for letting me join your group. I live in Orlando, FL (born in Manila, Philippines). I'm currently reading The Different Girl (which I won in a Goodreads giveaway) and The Artemis Effect. I read a little bit of everything but I enjoy fantasy novels the most. I also love character-driven stories and strong female protagonists.
I'm glad I found this group because I'm starting to take my reviewing more seriously (I've even started my own book/book review blog as an outlet). I hope that I can learn from you guys on how to write better reviews.
I'm looking forward to interacting with you all!

Kristine, Angie, and Cynthia: Forming this group is a true public service; great idea. I appreciate the opportunity to join.My name is Jerry Ward. I am new to this reviewing business (and to Goodreads). My two reviews to date are of Miss Mai (Lewis McLeod) and Global Economic History, A Short Introduction (Robert Allen). My tastes include fiction for sheer relaxation, but most of my reading leans toward history, economics, and technology.
I reviewed Miss Mai because a good friend recommended it. I thought is was both informative and charming. I thought its only review on Amazon was excellent, but it seemed so lonesome that I added my own very brief comments.
I reviewed Global Economic History because it addressed the same subject as my own book, The Evolution of Wealth, in which I am unabashedly trying to generate interest. Professor Allen’s book is much more scholarly than mine, and presents an amazing amount of interesting information (for those interested in such things) very economically. But GEH turned out to be very different than my own effort.
I am currently reading Thinking Fast and Slow (I am mostly the latter) and The Ancient Mariners, from which I’m picking here and there. I doubt that I will try to review either. My to-do list is on my Goodreads page.
I would welcome more friends who have even a vague interest akin to my own.
Welcome to the group Jerry and Marie! Thanks for joining. I generally read fiction but have read a few economics books as well. I'm a reader at heart and have just discovered a passion for reviewing. I am also a wannabe writer, maybe someday I will work on that but I doubt I'll get anywhere with that dream.
If you have any suggestions or comments please don't hesitate to let us know. This is your group too and we want everyone to feel welcome and satisfied with what we have to offer.
Thanks again for joining us,
Happy Reading and Reviewing,
Kristine

Thanks for the welcome! So how does this group work, exactly? Do we read the monthly selection then post our entire review in the appropriate thread, or do we just post a link to our review?
I too have dreams of becoming a writer so doing these reviews is a good way to stretch those writing muscles, so to speak :)

You can read the monthly selections. There are folders to discuss as you read them. There's also a section to post reviews (links are fine). I blog my reviews so I have left a link to my blog for my reviews. Basically, Anything Goes ;)
I ended up discovering this group through someone's book blog's About Me. I'm glad I did because I actually was trying to find a nice community of reviewers/bloggers on Goodreads, but was having difficulty finding one that wasn't plagued by spamming posters! :PI have been reviewing books for about three years now, really since I joined Goodreads. I liked the idea of having user-generated reviews vs. professional reviews. In the past two months, I had a sudden bounty of giveaway wins of arcs, a higher number than usual, so I wanted to help spread the word of those books (and perhaps selfishly, my thoughts about them), so I decided the time was right to try my hand at blogging.
I look forward to participating in discussions and group reads when I can. :)
Welcome! I'm glad you enjoy the group! May I ask where you are winning ARC novels? I really want to do a review on one some day lol ;)
Im also happy to see our bloggers mentioning our group on their blogs :D

I've won them on Goodreads as well as LibraryThing's Early Reviewers. I don't do the LibraryThing's Member Giveaways as much anymore. I've learned that you really have to make sure you're actually interested in a book if you're going to request it. I enter a lot of the giveaways on both sites, generally looking at Goodreads' giveaways once a week. I've recently started using netgalley as well. I was just approved for a few of the titles there. :) They're all ebooks but as long as their compatible to my Kindle, I'll be golden.
I'm a -little- bit addicted to entering giveaways, so really I need to stop until I'm caught up. I have never failed to review a book though that I received. It's just so exciting to get an email about a free book. :P
Hi everyone, I'm Paul and I'm a writer.
Hey, I'm always looking for new reading recommendations and I'm a writer so I'm looking for reviews too! This group seems friendly so I'm looking forward to chatting with you all.

p.s. No, I'm not a real writer, I just play one on TV...
